NFL Player Posts Instagram Photo Showing Police Officer’s Throat Getting Slit

http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2016/07/11/isaiah-crowell-instagram-post/

CLEVELAND (CBSNewYork) — An NFL player is apologizing for posting a graphic image on Instagram showing a man dressed in all black slitting the throat of a police officer.

Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell, 23, deleted the image he posted on Instagram showing blood gushing out of the officer’s neck. The image conjures up videos posted by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria showing the terrorist known as “Jihadi John” beheading American and British victims.

“Mood: They give polices all types of weapons and they continuously choose to kill us…(hashtag)Weak,” the caption read.

The statement continued, “I am outraged and upset by the deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile along with so many others. I am also outraged and saddened by the attacks in Dallas and the deaths of the 5 honorable police officers (Lorne Ahrens, Michael Krol, Michael J. Smith, Brent Thompson, and Patrick Zamarripa) who were providing protection while trying to keep peace. We have to be better as a society, it’s not about color, it’s about what’s right and wrong. I was very wrong in posting that image. Every single life matters, every death as a result of violence should be treated with equal outrage and penalty.”

It is not known if the Browns or the NFL will take action against Crowell over the Instagram post.

The third-year running back led the Browns in rushing last season with 706 yards. Crowell rushed for 1,313 yards and 12 touchdowns his first two seasons.

Isaiah Crowell isn't expected to face league discipline after posting an insensitive image on his Instagram account last week.

Crowell uploaded an image depicting harm against a police officer, but quickly deleted it. However, as we've learned, once it's on the internet, it's there forever. "The image was inappropriate and insensitive,'' NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said. "He realized this, took down the post and has since apologized." Crowell issued what seemed to be a sincere apology Monday.

To be fair, that search was illegal. Glad he found the gun but, any cop could say he "smells" something. Does not give him the right to search your car.

I agree. And there is really no way to do it, but you know that took money out of Crowell's pocket, and by extension, the agent.

I think if I had a dumbass on my hands, I'd require a social media manager.

Did you not read all of the consent given to the officer?

There is also an exception to the 4th amendment called plain touch/smell. If you smell like booze that is probable cause, just like it is with marijuana.

The real kicker of smelling marijuana is that it gives them consent to search in any reasonable location marijuana could be stashed; therefore, everywhere.

The consent was retarded on his part.... Smell alone doesn't give and officer justifiable probable cause in my opinion.

I understand that martyrdom varies with different cultures. Nevertheless, jihad and martyrdom go hand and hand - ask any jihadist that embraces radical Islam.

Slippery slope for Miss Alabama - Recruiters would be proud.

Someone should inform Miss Thing that her friend the 'martyr,' who killed five Dallas police officers, is in Jahannam (burning in hell).

Absolutely. I will never understand why a person with contraband will consent to a search, unless he truly didn't know about the gun under the seat.

Trust me, the smell thing is suspect. They can claim they smell anything and how can that be dismissed? It opens up an avenue for potential shortcuts around the 4th.

It boils down to state-by-state case law. It can be a fine line between reasonable articulable suspicion and probable cause. If there is case law in ATL that authorizes plain smell into the plain view doctrine then he had all of the probable cause he requires. My assumption is that it may be weak grounds, so he strengthened his case by gaining permission to search.

I know, in MD, plain smell falls under the plain view doctrine.

I'm still waiting for an officer to be brazen enough to claim to smell cocaine.
