@MikeGarafolo: Nick Foles has agreed to terms to join the Chiefs, source says. Reunion with Andy Reid.

@RapSheet: FA QB Nick Foles agreed to terms with the #KCChiefs, per @MikeGarafolo, and I'm told he also had offers from the #Cowboys & #Vikings.

@TerezPaylor: I can confirm reports that the #Chiefs have signed Nick Foles, via a source. Kudos to @MikeGarafolo, who had it first.

I thought we'd extend Alex Smith. This move puts some heat on that, IMO.

I'd assume Murray gets the boot, Bray third string and Hogan goes to "IR"

So who gets cut? Or is Dorsey up late at night calling some GM saying Murray a great backup QB and we trade him for a 5th round. While some how Hogan gets "hurt" after a pre season game and he on IR mean while Bray the 3rd QB spot.

I'll tell you what Foles is thinking.

He's thinking that IF he gets a chance to play due to injury, this is a damn good team to make him look really good as he auditions for future starting jobs.

Great skill players and running game to lean on, solid OL, and a great defense to back him up.

Exactly !!

2 reasons why the signing. We are a SB caliber team with an above average system QB that can get it done but if he goes down we have nobody with any NFL experience at the QB position to lead the rest of the way. Not good. Foles can hit the ground running. When Foles was released I hoped we would pick him up and YES !! And the 2nd reason to PGM's point you do not want your adversary to improve at QB.

Yes,yes,yes !!!!!!

I don't think people realize how good he was in Philly with Reid when he had decent protection. Now if he has to go in because of injury he will be like a kid in a candy store. ... did Denver just win a SB with a broke the **** down Manning with spot duty from Brock Osweiler or did I just imagine things?

That was a perfect storm of circumstances in a lot of ways. Cam's waaaaaay overrated QB play along with his waaaaaaaay overrated offense going against a massively underrated but very superior Defense with a superior D coordinator made for an anemic offense to actually survive and win a SB.

Foles literally had the best QB rating, yards per attempt and yards per completion in the NFL for 2013.

When he's hot, he's in a different stratosphere than Alex "tuck it on 3rd down" Smith. This guy's not afraid to chuck it.

1) Well, bye Tyler Bray.

2) Two years ish younger than Smith when he was acquired by Kansas City. I find that noteworthy.

3) IMO that buys the front office two-three years to find a QB worth taking in the first three rounds as a potential QBotF prospect and gives them the flexibility to let Smith dangle if he wants an inordinately large contract in the future -assuming, of course, Foles doesn't suck abject shit.

Well, Reid and Dorsey continue to show that they know the QB position is as important as it is. Tried trading for Foles previously, traded for Alex, played around keeping Bray, drafted Murray and Hogan...

Maybe none of those guys lead us to the promised land, but they have turned over every rock trying to find a QB. The idea that we would add a QB despite having too many already is just in principal a concept I can't comprehend.

I can't see Hogan being cut, but can they really get him on IR or to the practice squad? I don't see anyway Murray stays on this team. Smith/Foles/Bray with Hogan on the IR or Practice Squad seems like the absolute best case scenario right now.

All I can say is that Dorsey is in win-now mode.

Regardless of how Chiefs fans feel about Alex Smith, everyone with a brain knows the season de-rails if he gets injured long-term. Bringing in Foles gives you enough talent at the #2 spot along with system familiarity to keep a run going and seriously contend.

More horizontal depth added to a solid, solid roster. Great move.

Nice find.

I loved watching Foles at Arizona - he took a shitkicking playing behind a horrible line and rather talent-devoid team on offense, but he stood in the pocket like a champ and would just let fly. A bigger, stronger-armed, Jeff Hostetler...... tough SOB.

The reports he was signed to a 1 year deal does point to a win now mode. So Bray or Foles, either one are gone after this year if they do well.

My prediction is Bray gets traded very soon. Dallas?

If Alex goes down & Foles tears it up, I am not sure we could sign him even if we cut Alex at that point.

This is a nice little wake up present.

With the raw, elite speed and playmaking ability this team has on offense...Foles could shine if given a chance.

Seriously

Hill and Conley are 2 of the absolute fastest players in the league right now. Hill is probably THE fastest. Charles and West can fly. Maclin has wheels. Wilson has wheels. Streater has wheels. Kelce is crazy fast for his size.

Alex is damn good at protecting the ball and playing smart, but Foles would make this offense extremely fun to watch.

I disagree a little. While I think Dorsey sees what this team can do, I think he has done an incredible job of balancing this year and the future. He took this opportunity with Foles because it fell in their lap which could be seen as a move only as insurance for this year. He didn't risk the future for it, and if he had to I don't think he would have done it.

I don't see this as pushing the chips in, just never hesitating to add talent, despite it being the QB position. I love that they aren't worried about the other QB's having fragile minds that can't deal with competition.

Well, in their defense, the Cowboys were totally idiotic in this. They REALLY needed a good backup with the old and injury prone Romo. Foles practically falls in their lap and they don't grab him. It's a real head scratcher on their part.

All day yesterday on talk radio they kept talking about "I don't understand why Jerry doesn't want Foles."

Plus there's the whole "it's the Cowboys" thing.

I'll tell you what Foles is thinking.

He's thinking that IF he gets a chance to play due to injury, this is a damn good team to make him look really good as he auditions for future starting jobs.

Great skill players and running game to lean on, solid OL, and a great defense to back him up.

and a coach he can trust

Eagles didn't cut Foles. They traded him for Sam Bradford. He also asked for his release from the Rams.

That's because after Week 5 last season Foles looked like absolute garbage, Keenum looked adequate, they spent a 3rd on a QB last year, and drafted Goff. He wasn't going to make the roster this season.

Over the course of his last 6 starts, he threw 1 TD to go along with 5 INTs.

Granted, I understand the Rams aren't talented at WR. But that's still piss poor play.

I was a big fan of Foles in college so I am excited about this move. He was so good his first two years at Arizona and even put up good stats (1st in the PAC12 in yards per game) despite playing on an Arizona team that was absolutely devoid of talent due to injury and poor recruiting. I'm hoping the Chiefs can keep him past this year.

I am a little surprised with all the Foles love on here. I like him as the back up for certain but we should not be hoping he replaces Alex at all. Foles is not a franchise QB.

I agree, but Jeff Fisher has always had one of the most ugly looking offenses ever........

Nick Foles is a WEST COAST offensive QB.

So much to enjoy in that game...vs Raiders in Chokeland.

Well, everybody seems excited about signing Foles. Personally I am disappointed in what this move says about our backup QB's already on the roster. And if Foles is so god damn great then why weren't other teams beating down his door. And why did Fisher not have ANY confidence in him ????? I have mixed emotions.

I see a guy who is MADE for the WCO he has a great arm, and touch.
https://s31.postimg.org/haoed894b/foles.png

First year starting in Philly he was 60%er, 2nd year with Chip Kelly (1st year) he was 64%er, 3rd year (even tho not great) he was 59%er.

The guy in the "RIGHT" system is a 60-65%er easy.

TAKE SPECIAL NOTE

Year 3 (2014) is when Foles lost Desean Jackson, (who isn't respected enough) having that burner type clear out safety deep really opens up the seem and crossing routes.

$32 million in cap space to start the season and look at who Dorsey's locked up:

DJ
Tamba
Howard
Schwartz
Kelce
Fisher
Streater
West
Ware
Harris
Foles
Sorenson
N. Williams

Yeah Dorsey knows how to work the cap.

Best part is the cap is going to be going up, so all these contracts will look really good next year during FA

Not disagreeing. Fisher's offenses are fugly. If he just stayed the fuck away from being involved in the offensive game plan, everything would be OK.

I get that Foles is more West Coast, but that doesn't excuse his play what so ever. Fisher wasn't trying to reinvent the wheel on offense. He asked Keenum and Foles to do very little. Keenum looked fine, Foles didn't(aside from every game before Green Bay).

Well, everybody seems excited about signing Foles. Personally I am disappointed in what this move says about our backup QB's already on the roster. Because Foles failed and was outplayed by Keenum.

Smith goes down on first snap, Foles takes over and wins 24 games this season, catches his own passes, also subs in for Justin Houston on defense, beats Dee Ford to the QB and obviously returns punts and kicks from the -9 yard line for TD's every time.

Lets be objective then, Case was asked to throw 20 passes a game. Nick Foles was asked to throw 30 passes a game.

Was Case really that much better or was he able to not be pummeled into the ground all season long. I personally think they look very comparable (LAST YEAR) given all the facts.

This is a Jeff Fisher failure, not a Nick Foles one.

I don't even count his time with the Rams. That team is kryptonite. He looked good under Andy Reid in Philly when he was fresh off the boat and he had a great season under Chip Kelly, then Kelly went and blew up the whole roster, getting rid of all kinds of talent.

In my opinion, the QB controversy has already started.

Hell, for a backup QB I'm fine with it. He's had more NFL success than Chase Daniel.

If Alex were to go down this year unexpectedly, you don't want to be throwing a 'rookie' into the mix, for all intents and purposes (yes, Murray and Bray have been here a little bit, but neither has seen live NFL action during the regular season).

Other than win now, I am not sure this really helps us.

2nd year team option, though. I cannot wrap my head around them selling Foles on a backup position AND a team option for the second year.
