Thread title says it all, folks. Defense is going to need a better pass rush with Houston out and an aging Hali coming off of injury.

Dee Ford sucks.

Dadi is too weak to hold up against the run. He has the tools but he's not strong enough yet.

If it's anything like your Houston ready week 1 or Murray to start at corner nope.

Maybe a situational pass rusher. But not starting. Until he bulks up they will run all over him.

If Dee Ford does nothing in the first few games, I take him out on obvious passing downs and put Dadi Nicolas in.

Nicolas is a much better pass rusher at this point. He showed tonight he can bend on the outside and make plays. That's Ford's biggest weakness.

I'm actually confident that the coaching staff will put the best players on the field regardless of draft position. Nicholas has been applying pressure against the third string opponents, but the key question is whether he can do it against the first teamers. I hope so.

Technically, Cooper wouldn't have been a sixth round pick of the Chiefs. Right?

He was a 7th round pick of the 49ers waived after preseason and Dorsey claimed him before Week 1

Dadi Nicolas has a strained neck and will have an MRI tomorrow, per Andy Reid

Bob Sutton has to be very happy about this kid right now. Dadi Nicolas has earned some playing time, if it this was Dee Ford's first year in the league I'd give Dadi Nicolas the starting spot over the number 23rd pick today based on preseason and camp. Unfortunately, I don't think that will happen because Ford knows the scheme better, has played in some regular season games, and has more time under his belt learning from the best (Houston/Hali) even if he doesn't play like it. But, yeah I agree with the earlier poster who said Dadi should take over after a few games in rotation. Even tho, I'd love to let him loose now, it's fun to watch this kid get after it :-)

Watch them IR him so they can hide him away until next year.

I don't want him on IR right now. He needs to make the team. Use him as a pass rush specialist, especially with Houston down for a minimum of six weeks. We need pass rush from outside really bad.

I've been impressed with him. If the MRI shows he's OK, play him. If not, stash on IR.

theres a rule this year you can bring 1 guy back from IR at any point in the season but they got to make the final 53 roster first before you IR them

The rule change this year eliminated the IR - Desgnated to return tag. I think that's all that changed. It's still one guy per year, you don't have to choose at the time of placing them on IR is the change. They aren't eligible to play until after 8 weeks.

He lowered his head and lead with his helmet. After the play, he stayed down for a couple seconds.

I hope he's ok.

We need all the pass rushers we can get.

Who's fault is it that Dadi hasn't gotten more time against better talent?

Sutton still clinging to Ford's ball sack while hoping Ford suddenly grows a brain.

He is a #1 pick entering year three, of course Sutton is giving him first crack against ones and twos... basically trying to force Ford to grow

We don't need a moron at DC.

To me, the word "bust" gets thrown around too easily. Jon Baldwin was a bust. He NEVER looked like a legit NFL player, and he was out of the league 3 years after he was drafted.

Ford has been a bit of a disappointment, sure, but he's a depth LB at worst and will likely manage to stick in the league for quite a while even if he doesn't end up being an elite player.

I don't have a problem with the way Sutton has handled the Ford situation.

I mean, if they are going to depend on him this year, why not play him on the strong side where the coaches will have better film on how to coach Ford up due to more reps against the run and in coverage...

Kinda like when Houston was a rookie and the coaches dropped him in coverage a lot.

That period of time made Houston a better player and hopefully Dee Ford gets woken up at one point.

His pass rush hasn't.

His pass rush hasn't.

And you know this how?

He hasn't even gotten many oppurtunities to pin his ears back. He's either been in coverage, or the ball is coming out really fast. I think we need to see him play for at least a full game before we can say that.

Bob Sutton is really the man that must come up with something. His old ass must come up with a plan to generate a pass rush with what he's got.

If he can't we are foocked. Our schedule is not easy in Sept and we play against WR's that will tear us a new asshole if their QB can just stand back there. He is the key to a lot this season.
