Dayton got a little too tied up in nostalgia to give him 25m until he's 34. The right time to sign him would have been for a one year deal 2015, when his cost was at a low point.

If a championship got GMDM to drink the kool-aid a bit, I suppose there are worse things, like not winning a championship at all.

Oh, GMDM and Ned would have plenty of leeway. Just admit the mistake and move on. But no. Let him take your money AND kill your season.

Soria does have a ton of career saves, though.

I'm about as pro Ned as it gets on here... but his performance in September is pretty abominable.

Joakim Soria has more losses (3) since August 30th than half a dozen major league teams.

Let that sink in....

Didn't the broadcasters say that 11 times this year, Soria gave up the lead? Wouldn't reversing that alone put us in the wild card, or at least close? Put Soria in games out of hand conditions to eat innings. Unbelievable.

We'd only need to reverse 1/2 of his blown saves for your statement question to be answered yes.

I know you are too busy with your agenda on this board of being that asshole and always championing your typically unintelligent takes, but the majority of fans who follow the Royals AND understand baseball enough to comment, are complaining about Soria based on the fact that Ned continues to use him. While Soria is the one giving up runs and blowing games (and yes, people are upset with him), most are complaining because everyone seems to realize he sucks except for the one person who makes decisions.

You repeatedly (in here and in the repository thread) stating that Herrera giving up a HR being the difference in the game further illustrates just how completely dumb you sound 99% of the time. It is NEVER a bad idea to pitch Herrera in any situation, especially "high leverage". It has been proven throughout 2016 that it is typically a VERY BAD idea to pitch Soria in any mild-to-high leverage situation.

Furthermore, Herrera giving up that HR was not the difference in the game. Yes, I get that we lost by 1 run and in your mind, that equates to him costing us the game. Duffy exiting the game with a 1 run lead in the 7th inning and Ned handing it over to Soria was the difference in the game. Plain and simple.

I know I am far from alone when I ask that you just walk away from this board. Your takes, particularly when it comes to Royals baseball and KU basketball, are old, tired, and often way off base. I'm not sure if you just like being the board asshole or if you are so stupid you actually believe some of the crap you type makes legitimate sense, but either way, it would be great if you would just stop posting.

As I was watching the Mexicutioner kill our season last night, I was thinking about the end of the 2013 season, which was really the launching pad to give the team momentum into 2014, and start the first of two world series runs. On the last home game of 2013, Justin Maxwell blasted a 10th inning granny in a zero-zero tie game.

Guess who gave up the tater?

I think of Chris Young and I still remember the good times and how important he was in the World Series, particularly Game 1.

I think of Joakim Soria and my blood starts boiling. His good wasn't memorable and his bad is HORRENDOUS. He's worse than Chris Young. Far worse.

"We're just spoiled, that's all. We're so used to a consistent shutdown bullpen that fans overreact to what is actually average bullpen play and regression towards the mean."

This ain't an average bullpen. It's AIDS. Soria is the worst fucking one, too. He has zero positive qualities as a pitcher. At least Maurer has a powerful fastball. At least Moylan has that weird fucked up sidearm.

Soria has nothing left. Only thing he has is his control, and he showed he had lost that ever since he came back in 2016.

I meant what I said a few posts earlier. I'd rather have Chris Young in the BP than Soria. I'd rather have most of the 1999 - 2011 era Royals BP pitchers than Soria.

Fuck Soria. Fuck him. Fuck him with antifreeze.

Ned manages slightly differently than some others, if I recall correctly he waits until he thinks it's time for a change, then waited 10 days or games (can't remember which) before he acts on them. Something he learned while he was with the Braves. I think he's exceeded that mentality at this point when it come to Soria.

But I'm sure his answer will be, "who am I going to put out there?" That I don't know, but trotting out a safe bet for a blown save isn't very smart.
