Bob Dole has a few antiques left after the casa burnt down, but they absolutely reek of burnt house stank. Anyone have any proven methods of rectifying that issue?

Not even going to try to screw with all the cloth furniture and clothing.

I don't have any advice on the furniture.

Sorry to hear about your house. I hadn't even realized you invited Inmen over for a bbq.

Sorry to hear about your house...Vinegar and baking soda is really great to get smoke smells out of wood.. Never tried it on fire damaged stuff though... Good luck

Sorrow about your luck.

We had a friend whose house/business burned. The FD opened his gun safe somehow and left it open and sprayed foam on the guns....and the synthetic stalks stunk.

Cleaned with standard cleaners and left in the open to dry.

My first thought for you on wooden furniture would be Murphy Oil soap, orange glo, vinegar and water and let them air out for a while.

Was leaning toward trying the Murphy's first.

Naphtha solvent. Smoke is a tar-like goo and naphtha is an excellent tar remover. It won't harm the original finish.

You didn't uhm.....lose any drums or anything like that....did ya?

I detected that something had happened, but didn't realize it was that bad. Sorry to hear.

Bob Dole would likely have to ban Bob Dole in the event such an act took place.

What about a fire restoration place?

Sucks man. I can't even imagine that happening. Augh.

The 2 Bob Dole contacted are insanely expensive.

Isn't that what insurance is for?

Bob Dole is spending about half of that to build a compound on the 16 acres he owns in BFE Texas.

Fire investigator spent 5 hours digging through the cremains and had no clue. Insurance paid the full amount in 13 days.

Try some OdoBan. A lot of the fire clean-up places out here use it. We have dogs so we use it to clean and de-stink our house with. It'll destink a dog turd.

Just recently had this same issue when my apartment caught fire. We used lemon pledge and it worked great.

Well that totally sucks. Didn't you build that place yourself?

Murphys is just a soap made from vegetabl oil instead of animal fats. Fine to use on wood. Course you gotta wipe it off with a solvent before finishing.

Is this nice antique furniture? If you love it at all you'll keep the Pledge products away from it. So many of them contain silicones which will wreak havoc Tamba Hali style on the refinishing process if you ever do it.

Friends don't let friends use Pledge on anything both wood and valuable.

I did not. It was built in 1942, and added on to at some point. It was home for almost 11 years, but the neighborhood went to shit, so Bob Dole will not rebuild there and will focus on his 16 acres in nowhere-Texas.

Salvaged a few things so far, and there are a few left, but most of it will likely end up in a landfill. Insurance has been good thus far, so it should turn out ok.
