Apparently they are looking to add someone to help on defense after last week. Otherwise, why create cap space for this year. I wonder who Dorsey is after? Would just about have to be a trade at this point.

I'm not really sure - I've been wanting to use that gif, although the quality is poorer than I thought.

Sandy Vagina

It probably puts that 7.5m right into Houston's pocket, and spreads the cap increase to a mil + change across each of the remaining yrs of his deal.

Doesn't that just create more of a problem later?

Yup. It gives Houston more guaranteed money and increases his salary cap number for the life of his contract.

Nick Jacobs-Per NFLPA report, after the Houston base salary adjustment to $7.4M , the #Chiefs have $11,170,610 in cap space.

Not sure if the plan is to use this to try to keep Poe and Berry or if it's for looking for another pass rusher via trade.

Houston is worth every penny and we saw that on Sunday. And I don't believe a standard ACL rehab will be a huge deal for his future.

No problem with this at all.

Doesn't impact future years positively for us, so it isn't related to signing Berry, since he can't get a new deal until the year ends.

Maybe we are working on Poe's deal now?

Just heard theres a deal in the works to trade Dee Ford to the Broncos for Von Miller and a 2nd round pick so that makes sense we're trying to make room for a $20mil per year contract.

Not necessarily. If they want to sign Berry long term, it allows you to pay Berry more in year 1, which gives you more flexibility on the back end of his contract. So the two somewhat neutralize. The only downside is we Houston would be harder to cut, but I'm okay with that. I wouldn't be surprised if this move was made to take care of business with Berry and maybe poe

Doesn't matter if its money to sign Poe/Barry or making a trade for defensive help. Its all good news. This means that they are confident that Houston will be his old self when fully healed. And that they are not satisfied with the personnel they have or want to keep core players long term.

In the offseason only the top 51 contracts are counted towards the salary cap. Once the season starts every contract is counted, including the practice squad.

No. Sutton only used his "thumpers" half the time, and now that we have March, it's clear he's just fine going without one unless it's a goal line situation.

Tell Poe to play better if you want better run defense. He had an abysmal first half yesterday.

And for fuck's sake somebody fire that damn tackling coach!!!!!

Mychael Kendricks was benched in Philly this past week, just months after signing a contract extension, $29 million over 4 years.

Considering Reid's ties to the Eagles organization, a trade for Kendricks wouldn't be surprising.

That would be awesome....they might be trying to get Poe locked up sooner than later too..

If KC is targeting Kendricks...it means they were not happy with what they saw on game tape.

Why is everyone saying "good job" when we haven't done anything yet?

as of right now, all it's done is put us on the hook for more guaranteed money for a guy with a knee injury that's unknown.

What we do next will make it good or bad.

Trade? Extension? (with Dorsey it's more likely an extension)

no, it's not

Creating cap space almost always screws the cap up later on.

Creating cap space is only good IF:

1. The player you restructure is worth keeping around for the entirety of his contract. (Houston should be as long as the knee injury doesn't linger)

2. You do something more productive with that space than the cap penalty you get by the restructure. (ie keeping a good player or adding a good player)

Foles wasn't signed to be the back up.

I've never seen the calm, game managed Alice so animated. I imagine having Foles on the team & hearing all sorts of rumors might make you a bit nervous so that sort of win really had him proud of himself, rightly so.

It was nice to see him actually show some emotions.

Foles was signed as a temporary spot so he could then move on to another team.

Alex Smith is Andy's guy ... period.

Now as for Foles helping to make Alex more aggressive and bring him out of his shell. Very possible and a positive side effect of having a proven vet backup.

DaneMcCloud

The Chiefs can pick up Foles option in March, hang onto him for the entirety of the preseason and trade him for a high pick if another team has a need.

They don't have to be under the cap until September, so that's their best option, IMO.

No move is going to come from this. It just makes sense from the cap perspective as with the extra rollover space, we will have 4.5 million extra next year.
