Has there ever been anyone get this many picks in their first 2 seasons? Much less 3 games into their second?

RunKC

Peters also had the most passes defended in a season (26) since Revis in 2009 (31).

Peters already has 7 and it's only been 3 games.

I saw a graphic last week that showed how long it took got other players and most didn't get ten until over 40 games.

Who knows if it will even be possible to keep him for a second contract. I'm afraid that he will go play for his hometown team, the Raiders. Just like Brandon Carr did. Carr wanted to go to Dallas and in the end, that's where he went.

61 players have had 12 or more interceptions in their first two full seasons, not counting Peters who joins the club today. A majority of those are from older eras when the league allowed defense. I've highlighted the modern (post-merger) era players.

Peters has 13 games to keep climbing the list. He's currently on pace for 20 interceptions in his first two years. The Chiefs' current record appears to be held by Eric Harris (not the Columbine one) with 14.

Peters is the best draft pick since DT, and he's pushing him with his production. Hell we don't even have a pass rush and he's still balling out.

He's the type of guy you pay whatever it takes.

Heh, settle down there slappy. Let's stand by a few more games before we put him in that club.

He's doing fairly well right now. Let's see if it holds up.

I'm thinking he's an all or nothing type of guy. He either gets the pick or gives up big plays.
Today, he played perfectly. I'll give him that.

I expect to see these comparisons all over ESPN today, but probably not because Chiefs...

Peters is definitely special. Can't wait to see what he and this secondary can do when Houston gets back!!! On the same note, I think we see JC come back next week in an attempt to try and save our Offense from this lull their in.

Our secondary is very young. None of our young CB's have 2 full years of starting experience.

When Houston returns this secondary will be very good.

And Gaines has held up his end. He's looking very solid...

Pat on the back to SNR for not even being a Washington Husky fan like myself and recognizing this kid is a flat out baller before that draft. Let's put this in perspective to current times. Right now, he's tied with Richard Sherman, and he has 13 games to go. If he didn't get another pick all fucking season he would be at Richard Sherman's level at that point in his career.

He's a fucking big time stud and he is easily the best pick so far since DT. He is a QB baiter, not a race baiter. LMAO This kid can flat out ball, and we're going to have to pony up some coin to keep him from going home. And we do NOT want him going home. This kid's swagger gives me a DIAMOND STUDDED BONER

Pat on the back to SNR for not even being a Washington Husky fan like myself and recognizing this kid is a flat out baller before that draft. Let's put this in perspective to current times. Right now, he's tied with Richard Sherman, and he has 13 games to go. If he didn't get another pick all ****ing season he would be at Richard Sherman's level at that point in his career.

I don't think anyone went more nuts on draft day than I did.

Even I said I'd pass due to his "issues" in college.

When he fell and we pulled the trigger it felt like Dorsey had turned a corner and for once we were the team getting the Randy Moss, Aaron Rodgers, etc...

I hope quarterbacks continue to challenge Peters as they don't seem to respect the guy very much. He can get burnt but I think he is deceptive to the quarterbacks and makes up for it.

I think quarterbacks are going start throwing to the other side of the field so his opportunities will decrease.

Peters is on track to tie the all-time INT leader (Paul Krause-81 INT's) before he turns 30.

How insane is that?

Fitz barely threw Peter's way after his first pick. 2nd pick was just a tipped ball. He's definitely going to get a rep of someone you just don't throw at.

There was a little bit of that feel with the DJ pick as well. He fell to mid teens because some thought he was more of a run around the block guy. Now 11 years later, he's one of the top 3(?) linebackers in Chief history. Guy is 33 years old and he was arguably the best player on the field yesterday.

Yea, but the DJ situation was a bit different. We just got lucky as fuck that he fell to us. There was no legitimate reason (aside from the bs "runs around blocks"), unlike with Peters.

Sure, but Raush originally referenced Moss and Aaron Rodgers as well --- for one reason or another, a team got lucky and a great player fell into their lap. DJ would qualify.

Impressive for a player I keep hearing is over-rated.
Because in some people's minds they expect a shutdown corner to = 90s version of this, when he DBs weren't playing at a distinct disadvantage.

I was obsessed with DJ predraft, and couldn't believe that he ended up in our lap.

Just as much as I was perplexed at how he was on the path to becoming a bust before odd Todd made it his mission to wake the beast in DJ and tap into the talent we all saw he had coming out of UT.

He is remarkably a very different type of player from how he played in college. Weakside, in pursuit, working in a lot more space, and was notorious for his hook and club tackle techniques to jar the ball loose. At the pro level, he stepped up his game when he took on more of a thumper role that engaged head on to stuff things at the point of attack and become a tackling machine.

Same here. DJ was easily my favorite player in the draft and I couldn't believe he fell to us. I remember wanting DJ, but being willing to "settle" for Thonas Davis. Couldn't have really gone wrong there, but DJ has had a healthier career.

Yes that was great for us. I still wish I could find the ESPN interview of him pre-draft. DJ is one of my 2 or 3 favorite Chiefs in the past 10 years, but he had one of the worst interviews I have ever seen from a human being. Didn't make you feel different about him as a player, just seemed like he couldn't form a thought.

Meh, more and more I'm becoming convinced that CB's are becoming too pricy for that second contract.

The only position that really is worth mammoth $$ is the QB position and that's assuming he is playing big. You never get your $$'s worth out of any other position. Look at all the big extensions and big FA signings outside of the QB position in the last 15-20yrs.

DJ is one of the few that we definitely got our $$'s worth from him and he only got better with age which is very rare.

Ed Reed is going to be tough to beat with 299 interceptions. Also check out Herm Edwards with 13!

Ed Reed's short name gave him a significant advantage in statistics. I suspect it made his jersey lighter. And yeah, the Herm Edwards thing made me chuckle. I didn't remember him being a bad player at all, but I wouldn't have guessed him to be on this list.

One of the most intriguing things to me about this list, though, is that it doesn't seem to be a predictor of a Hall of Fame career. You certainly have a few in Paul Krause and Ed Reed and Lem Barney and their ilk, but you have a lot more Nathan Vasher and Lionel Washington and Anthony Henry types. So while it's great to see the interceptions, it's not necessarily a good tell that he's on a path to the Hall of Fame.

Up until that week, it seemed like there was no chance of it happening. I still didn't buy that he would fall even after all the talk about him running around blocks leading up to draft day. Glad he did though.

One might argue that Rodgers was the best pick in terms of positional value. But that's the only clear cut choice.

Of course, but we had Trent Green at the time and an offense we would kill for today. I don't think many predicted Rodgers to be the super star he is, was?, alright IS today.

DJ was the right fit.

Peters is having a great year. I don't understand all the Black Panther shit he is into this year. Why can't he just play football?
