View Full Version : Chiefs Why not move Peters around?

I don't think we've ever had this discussion before.

Marcus Peters is a stud, but like Richard Sherman, the Chiefs put him on one side of the field and that's where he plays.

What're the advantages of that? I assume there has to be advantages, right?

We're playing Mike Evans this week. Here in a few, we'll be playing Julio Jones.

Letting Peters travel with them seems to be the best strategy. Forcing Nelson or Gaines to guard both seems to just be ugly.

Not traveling limits confusion for not only Peters but the rest of the secondary. Denver doesn't do it either. There's a lot less to learn in a weekly game plan if you don't have to worry about 3 or so different spots and duties.

Because Sutton believes in dictating to the offense, not letting the offense dictate your defense.

When you have a great corner don't you typically match them up against the #2 and then double the #1 WR anyway?

If it's working, why change?

The best defenses in the NFL don't do it. Washington gave in to the scrutiny and made Norman shadow receivers. It didn't work too well for them.

There's other ways to cover receivers....like rolling coverage.

That's what the league's premiere D's are doing.

Peters did move around yesterday. He was matched up on the defensive right side several times with Bengamin.

99% of the QB's in this league are right handed, so you will see the #1wr aligned on the right a lot.

The answer to this thread is the Chiefs are leading the NFL in takeaways. It ain't broke.

No that's why we should trade for Delanie Walker.

I bet Peters wouldn't miss wide open wrs in the endzone.

Maybe you should see your dr if it won't move?

Wait....I need to reread

I don't think he followed a certain wr, I beleive he flips sides based on formation and whos where. He didn't always follow benjamin, but when the panthers brought 3 wrs to the left side, he's moving over, iirc

Can he play QB?

No, but I keep thinking that if we lined him up at WR he could intercept Alex Smith's errant throws...

Can he play QB?

No but punting might be in his future.

you mean we switch to the old "Cover Who?" defense per Herm Edwards?

Julio Jones is gonna smoke Peters.....because he does everyone.

But Peters will likely win a few too.

I just wanna see Peters do more "taking your lunch money like the playground bully" moves like yesterday. I was refreshing the game description on my phone at a family function and couldn't believe it. Homey just literally stole the game from the Panthers.

The correct answer to the question in the post title is because they are usually attached.
