Chiefs currently open up as 5 to 5.5 point favorites according to early Sportsbooks

Fivethirtyeight pegs us at a 70% likelihood of winning this matchup

What's changed since our last matchup?:
Jeremy Maclin appears to be returning to form coming off an 82 yard game (2 very impressive receptions for gains of 44 yards and a 17 yard pickup on 3rd down) .
Denver suffered key losses to both the Titans and Patriots, currently they have just a 17% chance of making the playoffs.
Chiefs have a 99% chance of making the playoffs according to several sites including NYT and FivethirtyEight.
Denver's run game has been pitiful, averaging roughly 3 YPC. Forsett is now their starter.
Von Miller purchased everyone in the entire AFC West a custom bottle of wine.
Vegas has the Chiefs at 4 to 1 odds of winning the AFC.
Early forecasts call for a snowy but relatively warm game.

KC has been the type of team that rebounds well...that and they have something tangible to play for. I'd imagine this loss...stemming from sheer stupidity, has got their collective attention.

Meanwhile...Denver's locker room is divided. There's trouble in paradise....looks like Talib is the instigator. No big surprise there...it's what he does. Ward's body slam on NE says it all...they are done.

Donkos offense has scored 13 points in the past two weeks...with the season on the line.

Even though yesterday's debacle stings like a mother, reading the meltdowns and delusions over at the mange are really brightening up my morning. They are over there calculating the chaos equation it would take for that laugher of a team to limp into the playoffs for a national embarrassment. They just put up 3 points, at home, in December, against their most hated rival, with the playoffs on the line and multiple posters are all "you never know what can happen when a team gets into the dance". They are also just assuming the Donks win out at KC and against OAK in these delusional scenarios which may be the most hilarious part, even if they did pull that off they need a 2010 Chiefs 10-6 miracle. The hope some still have over there is amazing. I love that their PR/KR (Norwood, shoved by Talib for muffing a punt) has 4 fumbles in the last 4 games and Kubes trotted him out there again and again last night. That team is coming to blows with each other, they have probably the worst RTs in football, zero and I mean zero running game, Kubes has lost the fanbase and possibly the players already, yet "never know what can happen" remains.

From the Mange:
"1. Never waste a chance to catch fire in the playoffs. Even if it's unlikely. Baltimore parlayed a 4th and like 34 season saving play plus Raheem into a WC.

2. Crazy EVERY other game we needed to go our way this week the opposite happened."

Lol, "catch fire" point #2 is also indicative of the typical Donk fan mindset, yeah not the Donk's fault for putting up 3 at home in a must have game, it's all the other teams not coming through.

Also nice to see some draft threads in December over there instead of here for once.

Not really, most recent wildcard Superbowl winners:

1997 Denver Broncos. Brian Bahr/Getty Images. ...
Smellway and Salary Cap Cheating
2000 Baltimore Ravens. Elsa/Getty Images. ...
If not the greatest defense of all time, then a solid #2, lone anomaly
2005 Pittsburgh Steelers. ...
Big Ben
2007 New York Giants. ...
Eli and a D-line that became Gods in the postseason
2010 Green Bay Packers.
Rodgers

2016 Donks:
Semengulper, terrible OL, terrible run game, terrible special teams, publicly divided locker room, no longer an elite D, not a "team" but a bunch of hired guns with garbage character (Ward, Talib, and all the other cheap head hunting players).

In theory yeah, reality no.

Steelers or virtually anyone in the NFC could win this year from a WC spot but the Donks don't have a prayer.

I'm still very busy catching up to reading the crybabies in every post.

At first, it was really annoying, but now, it's just expected and comical.

10-4, and one of perhaps three AFC teams as likely SB contender... and the same fans are in the corner... tears running down their faces and pissing themselves..

I am still burning over that Smith EZ pick, no lie, but this team is the same as it was. KC might be able to squeak out important wins if Andy Reid gets out of his own way... but it's painful.. because this offense could really soar, if allowed to.

* The constant injuries (including slow recoveries for active guys)...
* Reid going into a shell after any lead.. the DROPS (5th worst before yesterday... and a special **** you to DAT)...
* the 19th ranked rush offense in dvoa..
* and yes, the occasional wtf? horrid QB decision...

... but back to the offense could really soar... we have seen the stretches where this offense cuts loose. We KNOW what they could do, if unshackled.

So for people to STILL not get that it's the coaching philosophy at work here? That suggests that they just don't want to.

Whether from fear of recognizing that Andy's not going anywhere and not gonna change.. or simply hating the QB.. or just being too ignorant to blame anyone but the QB... they just can not allocate portions of blame where they truly belong.

The Broncos are melting down. Their defense hates their offense for being a trash bag filled with wet moldy bread. They might not even try.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs are motivated to overcome a terrible loss and hopefully take the division back. Travis Kelce will force Alex to audible out of Andy's shitty play calls to get the ball to him and Tyreek over and over again.

You all need to grow up. Whining like entitled little bitches. It's football for God's sake. Sure, yesterday was frustrating as ****, but fortune has been on this team's side most of the year and it's still the team with 4 losses in the last 25 or whatever. They've beaten some of the best teams in the league, destroyed the SB winner in their house last year, were a Davis fumble away from OT in Foxboro last postseason, and the year before beat both teams that appeared in the SB.

Tired of the women here bitching about this team having no shot at beating playoff teams. Yes, they have a ****ing shot. And yes, it's gonna be difficult, as it would for any team whose front 7 is decimated. But the last two are winnable and the 2nd seed is still well within reach. A home game would be a good opportunity regardless of who comes in (even Pitt - Roethlisberger is notoriously mediocre on the road), then you likely go to New England, where they were close last year (w/ Gronk, and you possibly have Charles and others back by then).

Do any teams really expect to get big numbers against the leagues #1 pass defense?Brady couldn't complete more than half of his passes yesterday and had zero TD's. Mariota was 6/20 for 80 yards. Bortles had a QB rating of 38. At least Smith played half decent against them in those final 20 minutes a few weeks back.

At this point he isn't even defending Smith to the death because he likes Alex, it's because he likes himself.

The last time these two teams met, the 3.5 point underdog Chiefs won a wild one and escaped Denver with a 30-27 win in overtime. Overall, the Chiefs have won two straight games against Denver, marking the first time since 2000 that Kansas City has beaten the Broncos in consecutive games. The Chiefs are coming off a loss, which we're only noting because the Chiefs have been unstoppable coming off a loss. So far this year, the Chiefs are 3-0 both straight-up and ATS after a loss. As for the Broncos, they're in the middle of a meltdown: After starting the season 7-3, they're 1-3 both straight-up and ATS in their past four games.

This is where I am at. The bigger concern is the Front injuries have caught up. Since the Atlanta Game Run Defense has looked putrid. So unfortunately cant hang your hat on Solid Defense.

Offense just needs to go back to simple play calling. Get Kelce, Hill and Mac touches and use simple Goal line strategies that I see other teams use.

The run defense has been shitty all season, not just since the ATL game.

One game this season allowing fewer than 97 rushing yards. ONE.

Gave up an average of 121.3 in the 11 games leading up to ATL. If that was our average for the season, it would bump us up ONE spot in the rankings to 27, ahead of Buffalo.

Injuries are not the reason this run defense sucks. They just suck.

The 800 pound gorilla in the room is named Andy and we also know that at any time he can go full retard and grasp defeat from the jaws of victory. I think our offensive play makers have had enough and they will be more vocal at practice and during the game if the fat man starts to go into his shell. We still have time to rev up the Ferrari and show the rest of the NFL what a Superbowl team looks like but we will need to have somebody standing close to Andy with a cattle prod ready to stick it up his ass.

The only reason we become inept is because our moronic head coach changes his gameplan after we get a lead. If we operate like we did the first quarter against Tennessee for an entire game we would average 40 points a game. That is the frustrating part. Our head coach limits our capabilities and we all know it's going to happen again sometime down the road.

He definitely didn't put them in the best spots to be successful. He loses sight of the fact that he has great weapons when he has a lead, no matter how slim. But, he's also not the one who executes poorly. It's a mixed bag of blame for sure.

I can't understand why he takes his foot off of the gas when he knows the defense is bottom half in every yardage category. He needs to build a three possession lead before he tries to nurse it.

Houston knee swelling. Staff says it's normal and nothing serious.

Houston didn't look normal vs Tenn, he was slow, sluggish and couldn't get off blocks to make plays when they were there.

I figured he would be fine, Andrews is a good Doc and I figured they would get him back on the field for the Broncos game where he would feast on the worst OL in the history of the NFL.

That said I would be concerned about knee swelling. After dropping that Tenn game a 1st round bye is probably gone and that means the rest he needs isn't going to be there.

kc missing their best ILB gives the Broncos a chance to run (if Kubes would commit to it) with Forsett who is a better rb than Booker. Sure hoping that Kubes keeps playing Turner more at guard. They have been taking Schofield off the field for him and he did well early last week but they went back to Schofield and the zone game later with Booker and the run game was stuffed. Sometimes Kubes out thinks himself.

With kc unable to get enough of a lead to force the network to switch to a more competitive game despite kc fans here thinking the game was out of reach only for Tenn to hang around and then Reid overthought himself and gave the Tenn kicker a second chance at making the winning FG.

I am hoping that kc allows Denver to stick around like they did with Tenn, and Jags, and every other team. If the Denver WR's can catch the ball and get a couple plays go their way they can play the spoiler and maybe get that last wild card spot.

However if the Broncos allow Houston (if he plays), Ford, Berry, or even Peters to make a couple big plays then the SB50 champs lose. If the terrible SB50 Champs OL comes out and plays average I could see the Broncos winning this one easily. Siemian can pick apart the suspect secondary as long as he has time to set up to throw.

Should be fun one, too bad it is on Christmas, I will have to listen to it in the car on the way home from family.

With Denver's top 2 TEs likely out, their running game being total crap and really only having 2 WRs that need to be respected...Bob Sutton will be free to "dial it up" and attack more with corner and safety blitzes and we have some of the best blitzing safeties in the league.

On defense, Denver didn't have any answers for Tyreek Hill last go around and will likely be without TJ Ward due to concussion protocol...so Alex Smith should have lots of matchup advantages with Tyreek and Kelce.

If Andy does a good job of putting his guys in good positions to succeed, there is no reason KC doesn't win this game.

I am as frustrated with Smith and Reid as anyone but to say anyone on this team is going to quit when we still have a real shot at the #2 seed and a home playoff game is just insanity.

We haven't lost back to back games since week 6 of last year.

Furthermore all we are talking about there is winning 4 games to get to the AFCCG. 5 for the SB.

How many 5 game winning streaks have we had the last 3 years? 3?

Oh. So he's a scrub and he's out. Green, who is also a scrub, is out. Their OL is trash. Their backs might be worse. QB is average-ish.

You weren't here for the Marty era. We had tremendous regular season success and then playoff collapse after playoff collapse.

That's exactly what it feels like right now. We didn't have the quarterback to pick the team up when it faltered. Now we rely on a guy who puts up 17 ppg.

Can't really argue that.. except to say that I don't believe Smith is much worse... or at the very least will be this level of worse.. when the do or die games come around. Same goes for my hope in Andy Reid.

This offense has a legit chance to shock us all when the do or dies begin. We have seen what they are capable of when unshackled. This offense can go a long ways into lifting more than their share for the hobbling defense. I feel it. I believe it. I will look for it. If I am wrong, then I will eat it.

I am trying not to read between the lines anymore with this team.

I cannot remember which play it was last week, but Houston took as shot right to his knee from one of our players while trying to recover a fumble. He was slow to get up after that and it must have been more serious than it appeared.

IMO, Houston is not going to play this Sunday because he is injured, not because Reid wants to err on the side of caution, just as he is not keeping the offense close to his vest only to "unleash" Alex Smith in the playoffs.
