Never even thought about going to college when I was younger, but I just received this email after just wrapping up my Associate's:

I guess all of that hard work paid off. Back to the grindstone.

That is the tough part. I graduated from my community college with a 3.89 GPA, but didn't do much extracurricular stuff. I kind of was looking forward to taking a semester off and resuming, but now that doesn't appear to be happening. Gotta turn it back on.

Yea, I can see how that would happen. It's a good thing my VA benefits end 2020. Need to wrap up my Bachelor's by then.

Fall. He's a senior in HS.

His destination will come down to best financial package. He's been accepted to Michigan, Ohio State, Illinois and Minnesota. Waiting on Maryland, Virginia, Wisconsin and Florida. He's a Florida boy who wants to go out of state, up north. He's crazy.

There is no way I would go North from FL, but he will see.

Thanks. He's going to major in astrophysics, which is way beyond my math skills. Florida is a good school and just 2 hours from us (our other son is at FSU), but he wants cold and snow. I've been giving him the weather reports from Minneapolis, etc this week. He thinks it sounds great.

He's nuts.

From a parent's perspective, I like orientations. Our tour at Maryland was one of the better ones. I liked the campus. College Park isn't much of a college town, but D.C. is just a hop skip and a jump away, and Baltimore's not far either.

Yea, I would probably feel the same if it were either one of my kids, and it is convenient to have everything taken care of in one swoop. I just have a ton of work to do, and it will most likely eat up a ton of my day.

With the amount they charge, they'd better be! $75 application fee, $400 commitment to enroll (does go towards tuition), and a mandatory $116 fee for orientation.

I'm excited to be one! It works out for my family and I to have been accepted there since we live close, already.

I just want the process over. I thought I knew what work was until I went to school, got paid on a salary basis, and had two step kids. Having one of those three situations finished would be inexplicably relieving. I'm praying it's the kids :fire::D (Now I'm going to hell)

Good luck over there! It's a nice but very big campus.

I'd be happy to meet up with you one of these days during a Chiefs game for a drink. I think there are at least 10-12 of us around the beltway within 30 minutes of DC in all directions to make it possible.

That would be awesome! Too bad the Skins are in KC this year. I went to the last one in DC and we spanked the hell out of them. 2013, I believe. Bowe and Charles lit it up. Let me know if you have any plans, and I'll see what I can do.
