I'm a Bama fan.

and I can totally see Clemson laying the wood to them. Not like a 30pt beat down or anything, but I can see them out playing them.
Clemson's defense needs to keep Hurts in the pocket. His passing should scare no one when he's contained in the pocket, sans of course a WR is WIDE open. he will kill you by extending plays after the secondary breaks down and he eludes the rush, OR by simply moving the chains with his legs.

Bama's defense will have trouble, like most do, keeping a lid on Watson. Much like what Clemson's defense needs to do to Hurts, Bama needs to keep Watson in the pocket. Though, IMO, Watson is more than capable in throwing from the pocket. Bama's DL will play a huge role.

Offensively, I was completely confused last week against Washington. I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what the play calling was trying to accomplish. Were we trying to establish the run? Or quick passes? Screen game? For much of the game, it was a rushing attack that pretty much featured Hurts. Which blew my mind, considering you have a 6'2" 230+ RB than can RUN. No sooner than I mentioned this to my wife, Scarborough busted out a 70+ yard run, then it was on.

Clemson knows what's up. Hell, the outplayed them last year for probably 75% of the game but Bama ground it out and won. Clemson is not intimidated by Bama like some teams might be. Bama's M.O. has pretty much always been, smart offense and take shots strategically, killer defense, keep the game close in the first half (+/- ), and basically suffocate the other team via their depth in the 2nd half and put the game out of reach.

I think it'll be a close game, much like last year. THough, I don't think there will be as many total point put up. I suspect a 3-10 point victory one way or the other. Special teams will be big in this game. The team that gives up large chunks of field position, or even a score, may screw the rest of their team.

I don't know if he's demonstrably more talented than Jameis.

Jameis was just so much more polished because he played in a far more pro-friendly system.

Winston doesn't have quite the pure arm-talent that Winston did and Winston's build is prototypical pocket passer. But Watson's athleticism is better than Winston's by a ton and his raw arm strength is about on par.

They're much different players and while Winston had an obviously higher floor, Watson may still have the higher ceiling.

But again, huge huge risk there. I think he's a star or he's not even a quality backup.
