We're almost done. Wow, there are a lot of states that start with the letter M.

My rankings:

Bay Springs - It's a much nicer house on the inside than the outside. I'm not really into some of the woods used, but I could handle them. I haven't traveled much in Mississippi, but this is a rare state where I'd probably be fine living in the sticks over living in town. I wasn't impressed with the restaurant choices, so I'd probably cook more. So ... lots of land, not too far from a town, and a pretty nice interior can work for me. It's not a showstopper, but I could do it.

Natchez - Cool house, and I usually like the in-town locations. But there are no parks at all, and the restaurants don't inspire awe. I initially thought this would be my #1 pick, but I'd probably do the bigger property in the rural area instead.

Biloxi - I should probably pick this house #1. If push came to shove, it's a safe choice. But I feel like it's more of a spec house where everything is designed not to offend than a house that embraces style. I'm bummed that I don't see a boardwalk on the beach. Maybe it's there and I'm missing it, but they need one.

Flowood - This house is in pretty much the most inconvenient location possible. It's a great house though the historical implications might make some of my friends wince. I like the house, but the location kills it.

Poplarville - Small house in the middle of nowhere. It's reasonably convenient to New Orleans, I guess, and it's got lots of land, but I don't need lots of land to be happy.

Biloxi. Beautiful area, lots to do... Man made beach, but still can be appreciated. Also a short drive to Nola. Other than Jacksonville area, a beautiful state, though very economically challenged. Also....very racist. Lived there a spell. Greenville.

If don't mind dying from all the chemicals they used to treat the oil spill go ahead live down there.

Why is it a manmade beach? The ocean is coming up against land, so shouldn't there be a natural beach anyway? Or was it rocky or some such thing and they trucked in sand?

Originally it was a mangrove swamp then, yes, they trucked in sand. IF you dig in it...6 inches then mud.
