It's still a bit crazy for me as a 40yo to think that soon many of my heroes and favorites will be dropping dead.

RIP Jane Fonda

The airplane Fonda was on reportedly broke apart in mid air with an already dead John Goodman at the stick. Tough way to go.

And the news will probably overshadow MTM's death. RIP.

She was one of the first actresses ever where I saw her as a child and started thinking, "There's something about women that could possibly be interesting."

She also had good taste in cars. She used this to drive to Minneapolis and turn the world on with her smile.

RIP.

Carl Reiner, Dick Van Dyke, Betty White, Cloris Leachman and Rose Marie all still alive in their nineties. Ed Asner and Gavin McLeod still here in their later eighties. Valerie Harper in her late seventies.

Looks like I may have uncovered a new 'blue zone'.

On the Dick Van Dyke Show, they were required to do cigarette ads from time to time while in character, which I find really weird.

I read that the actors actually did smoke at the time, and they hated that cigarette brand. So they would get cartons of the cigarettes and then have a stagehand take them to the store and work out a trade to get the cigarettes that they preferred.

She was a very complicated person. Married three times, battles diabetes and alcoholism, and was dogged by the feminist movement in the 1970s to be a figurehead, but refused.

In the early 1960's she was smokin' hot, and was responsible for the fad of women wearing Capri pants, which were the 1960's version of yoga pants now.

Everyone who worked with her loved her. She had a great life and brought a lot of laughs to people for many years. We should all be so lucky.
