View Full Version : Not really sold on this draft class.

The options at corner are pretty lousy. This is also a pretty bad WR crew, and the QBs all have their promise but I don't think this class is particularly good, either.

OL is fine, LB is top heavy as shit though.

RB and TE, and front seven. That's pretty much it for this draft -- especially at RB and TE. I don't even like the DTs that much outside of a few guys, but the edge rushers look very good.

Anybody else getting that vibe?

I get the feeling we're going to see a lot of WTF picks by Dorsey as he goes well outside the box to find the athletes this team needs.

Really, I guess, that's my biggest criticism. That this draft just doesn't seem particularly athletic. TE is really the only position that looks like it's going to inject the NFL with an athleticism upgrade.

In gym shorts this draft class looked extremely athletic.:)

Is that the reason that the analysts are saying this may go down as one of the best draft classes?
Is that the reason they are saying that there is 80 players that would go in the top 50 in the last few drafts?

The DB class is really good and the WRs are solid. Outstanding LB, RB, and TE class as well.

OL kind of blows, no bluechip franchise LT in this class, IMO.

DL is as solid as ever.

QBs are easily the weak point of this class. There isn't a single blue chipper this year and the guys who are being talked about as day 1/day 2 picks are only in the discussion because this group is so bad and many teams in the league are truly desperate for a starting QB right now.

I would say that it's a great draft class for anything other than a franchise QB or LT. Thankfully, the Chiefs don't really need either of those immediately and can avoid reaching on an inferior prospect.

I'm aware of what the experts are saying.

I look at this class and shrug, though.

I think you usually have pretty good takes, but don't quit your day job.

Teams go gay for pass-rushers and DB's. It's a pass-rusher, DB heavy draft.

Of course they're going nuts over it. If you're looking for an elite player, yeah this isn't your draft.

This will be Dorsey's best draft ever. Just watch and in 2 yrs we will all be :hail: Dorsey !!

That's my gut on this upcoming draft.

The truly loaded positions to take day 1 and day 2 are EDGE, DB, TE, and RB, they are loaded. I'd push alot of running backs down though to round 2/3. I think maybe 2 go round 1, but teams don't rush out to draft many unless they feel they are going to be immediate studs. Unless I can get a couple of the top TE's, same thing, round 2-4 seems to be the sweet spot. EDGE or DB is the best place to go with a round 1 pick and even a round 2 pick overall.

Most of the DT guys look day 2 or later to me. The only guy I see at DT that's would be a sure-fire 1st rounder is Allen, but he weighed in light at the combine, making him most attractive as a 3-4 DE or 4-3 LDE.

ILBs are mixed in but mostly all 2nd round on and almost all of them come with something you have to be careful of injury wise, so I'd push most of the group to round 3 or day 3. I think the only clean ones are Cunningham and McMillan. Foster has a boatload of talent, but I've yet to hear the shakedown from that med eval at the combine. Whatever happened there wasn't a very good sign and I'm wondering at this point if he even goes 1st round despite being the clear #1 at the position.

I think interior offensive line is very strong in this draft through about the 4th round. I get a bit more selective after that and only see a few I really like.

The tackle class is mostly terrible. Alot of them are maybe right tackles but I see most having to slide inside. The only left tackles I see in the group are Ramzyck, Bolles, and Garcia and they might be a year out from being functionally strong enough to be worthwhile (similar to Fisher).

I think the WR class is very strong overall. It's not top heavy, but there are some definite bargains to be had in the 2nd round and onward. I really like Chris Godwin out of Penn State and wouldn't be upset one bit if KC took him there. Some good looking players though so I wouldn't sleep on this class. I just think some other positions are going to push this one down a bit this year.

Punter class looks strong btw. Seems silly, but I think a handful could be drafted and there's probably 4 I'd love to see KC draft if they weren't handcuffed to paying Colquitt absurd money.

If you're looking for a QB, this year is not the year you're going to pluck a day 1 starter. There's a few guys that deserve a 1st round grade, but I don't fault any team in the top 15 for passing on them for other positions.

Overall, I think this draft class is very strong. Teams that need a QB or a LT day 1, they are shit out of luck. I think if you need a 3-4 NT, it's slim pickings. After that, it's a pretty damn good class to fill alot of other voids.

And we still won't have won anything of significance due to no quarterback.

And yet when asked to give alternatives, you couldn't. Maybe we should have drafted Geno huh? We'd clearly be a better team with him.

Like I said many times, the only miss Dorsey has on his record is Carr. Other than that he's done a great job evaluating QBs.

DB class takes a hit. Pro day torn Achilles for Sidney Jones. Sucks for him and he was a possible pick for us.

Bud, this is one of the best defensive draft pools in the last 10 years...

DBs, pass rushers, mike lbs, pretty much everything we need (on defense)

That said I'm a little underwhelmed by the qb class...

But I'd still take a flier on Mahomes, he's the only qb i like early (and if you're not taking a qb early, what's the point?)

Agreed. If dorsey wasn't drooling over this draft then we'd be bringing in FA's to shore things up.

I was listening to NFL Radio on Sirius the other day. The guys talking at the time, don't remember which show, said they think this draft is deep with solid starters, but not so much with pro-bowlers.
