Megathreads suck. Bite me.
The Falcons have agreed to terms with former Chiefs nose tackle Dontari Poe on a one-year, $8 million contract, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported, via a source informed of the deal. The new pact can reach $10 million with incentives. The Falcons later confirmed the deal.

Same deal we got for Logan who is healthier.

What is in bold is a huge difference in getting a nasty push up the middle and stuffing the run continuously. Just getting a healthy Logan will significantly stop the bleeding between the 20's thus our D will be far less gassed.

Why didn't he push his agent for NE?

Because they already have two versions of Poe. The Old Poe: Alan Branch and the young Poe: Malcom Brown

I agree. I loved Poe but I just don't think he was the same last year as in years past. I think Logan will make our DL more fearsome again.

His agent knew better that he could not fool Bill with a $$ seeking overrated injured Poe.

Seriously, it wouldn't matter. He got his $$ and I assure he will go full Haynesworth as if he hasn't already.:hmmm:

Oh I get your point BUT Neil had character that loved the game and was hungry for a ring. Poe is quite different and is hungry for something else IMHO. Poe is your typical "clock watcher" at work and even more so now that he got his $$.

I enjoyed Poe during his minute here, but he wasn't the same last year. He was a liability.
Can't pay a big man with a bad back. Good luck to him in AtL.

Boy, exact same contract.
Going to be a lot of comparisons this year between Poe and Mr. 32.

We played him around 76% of our defensive snaps. That is more than just about any DT in the league. A few DE's play more but it's still too much, especially with a bad back.
Apparently, the Chiefs had already decided to not keep him and just run him into the ground on his way out.
I imagine Poe wants to be a 3-tech where he can use his quickness and shoot gaps.

Poe gave the Chiefs 5 good years and I'm sorry to see him go. I don't feel sorry for him not getting the big deal he was looking for though. He just signed for $8mil so he should be set for life.

I read reports the Colts offered him 5 years 60 million and he turned it down.
I cant imagine why unless Ballard made it with low garunteed money and an easy out after like 2 years.
That or Poe really doesnt want to be the hoss that eats up blockers anymore and just wants to pass rush

I like Poe and wish him well. Now is the right time to sell on him. Dorsey and Co have gotten this one right.

As much as I hate to admit it, I totally agree. Still, I'm going to miss the guy.
Remember when he was drafted and he practically kissed the Commish? LOL!
Bottom line is the Chiefs could have found a way to keep Poe as supported by the Logan deal, had they really thought he was worth it. The did the right thing and signed a better run stuffer when they had the opportunity.
All the Best to Dontari.

It looks like this was the plan for KC from the start. They rode him hard in terms of snap #'s. It's not a surprise he broke down. He played hurt and didn't complain. Good guy.
If Tyson Jackson can eek out a career in Atlanta, Poe will be viewed as a demi-god.

Completely disagree with Poe being done. If he took a one year deal he is clearly betting on himself. I bet he plays his ass off next year.

He had that opportunity last season. It was a contract year, that's when players usually work on improving their perceived value.

I imagine that Atlanta was the only place to tell them that he wouldn't play NT.
He is going to be a 3-tech in Atlanta. His job is to attack instead of holding the point of attack for 2 gaps. That means sacks and TFL, which Poe hopes will turn into a big, big money contract.
That screws us, unfortunately.

I'm not sure i want to be the team that gives him his next contract.
Poe is going to move to the 3-tech where he can attack. He's going to get sacks and TFL this year.
Poe is going to want to get paid big time next year and i don't see how you can trust the contract year results.

I agree a long term deal would not be worth the risk. But I don't blame him for wanting to change roles. Who wouldn't ?
