You disagree, apparently?

Pitchers are most likely to get outs with swings and misses and by weak contact.

Soria induced both this inning, sometimes runs are given up simply by bad luck. That's what happened here.

He kicked the ball on purpose when Esky was in position to make an out. Part of his job is knowing where his defense is.

He kicked the ball on purpose when Esky was in position to make an out. Part of his job is knowing where his defense is.

That's a natural instinct. No human has the reaction time from the time the ball is hit on that play to make any sort of knowledgable play with his leg. The natural reaction is to get in front of the ball.

The offense scored one run off a guy who had given up 23 ER in 23.1 IP this year.

The offense as a unit has run production 33% below the league average this season.

That's the worst in the league.

The Royals hitters have a sum fWAR of -0.2.

That's the worst in the league. The 2014 bullpen couldn't bail out this offense.

Chiefspants

Did the team decide as a unit to swing at the first pitch right after the opposing pitchers yields a walk?

Soria and Herrera would tell you they have to finish that game today, but asking your pitching staff to basically throw a shutout every day is just impossible. This offense is just so much worse than any other offense that you keep thinking they have to turn it around, but they just aren't.

This team is on pace to score 458 runs. Just for comparison, the Phillies had the fewest runs in the league last year with 610. That really should be a recipe to lose 115 games.

I just don't understand it? If they all just hit career norms they wouldnt be great But be a better offense. How can these guys be bad all at once? These are all veterans. They absolutely should be better than this. Right???

I was there today. Impressions:
1) Weather was perfect Absolutely perfect. Lots of empty seats. Disappointing for a Saturday.
2) Vargas deserved a win. He pitched great, and Kipnis getting on to send him to the showers was a damn shame. Ned should have given him at least one more batter.
3) Great catch by Alex to save two runs. But he's not hitting. At all.
4) Bench Moss. Dude sucks.
5) Nothing from our new Right Fielder Solair.
6) Hosmer drove in the only run, but failed big in the 9th to help get the game closer.
7) Merrifield stands there and looks at strike three in the bottom of the ninth. Back to Omaha.
8) Soria gave up the lead, again. You knew that was going to happen.
9) Herrera is not ready to be a closer. You don't do that at home against a division rival you're trying to chase down.
10) Nobody seems to be afraid of Ned or any fallout from this start. If we get another week of this, look for Cain to go to the Nats, which will be step one of the great 2017 fire sale.

You're not going to beat anybody only scoring one run. Royals offense made a pitcher coming in with an ERA over 8 look like Cy Young. Might be time for Dale Sveum to go.

It's absolutely time for him to go. But Ned doesn't like to fire or replace or bench guys. DM would have to step in
