Just saw this on Roto. Very nice signing. I remember he was well liked by many of SF fans.

We should definitely look at likeability by the fans over actual talent.

Wikipedia says:

Tiller was signed to the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers on October 18, 2014. He was cut by the 49ers in order for the 49ers to make their 53-man roster. He was then signed to the 49ers' practice squad on September 6, 2015. In the middle of the season, he was signed to the 53-man roster and played two games alternating snaps with Jordan Devey.

Sooo... great. He's Jordan Devey's twin.

In other words, we'll be LUCKY if we cut him in preseason. If he makes the roster, it's probably because we're in deep shit, not because he earned the spot

Chiefs signed OG Andrew Tiller, formerly of the 49ers.

Tiller opened last season as the 49ers' starting right guard. He made the first five starts of the season before being replaced. The former sixth-rounder in 2012 by the Saints will compete for a depth job in K.C.

A little depth never hurt anyone. Need bodies for camp too.

We HAVE depth. Zach Fulton is the usual reliable phone booth blocker who can't get push in the run game to save his life. But at least we know what he is. Tiller is likely worse than Fulton.

Which like I said, if he's a camp body, then fine. If we depend on him, he's Jeff Linkenbach or Mike McGlynn.

That cannot happen. Ehinger better be healthy or else we've got shit all over us

I'm just not seeing it right now. Maybe they want to see what all of these guys have in TC and then go from there. There are a TON of bodies at ILB right now. And yes I realize that I didn't say talented bodies.

LDT's grade last year was 78, Fulton's was 75...

Those grades are fucking garbage. Watch the games moron.

That mama rookie will win the last OL job. he's a diamond in the ruff. allowed ZERO sacks last year.

Why Not?

If he pans out we can call him "Tiller the d lineman killer"

What's to be mad about here? By everything I have read in the last hour, he was decent the past couple years in SF.

If this allows us to avoid another Jordan Devey start, then I'm all for it. If the starting OL is Fish-Ehinger-Morse-LDT-Schwartz, that leaves a lot of experienced depth in Reid, Fulton, Tiller, Person, Devey. You also have to remember that this Mama kid from USC apparently stood out at rookie camp and was a projected draft pick. He could make the team, especially since Andy mentioned him in his presser Monday.

Let those depth guys battle and see who comes out. It should be great for the team in the long run.

After listening to Dorsey on GMFB Monday and seeing some of Eligwe's test numbers and his sheer physical presence, I really wouldn't be shocked if he impresses at ILB. If he can play instinctively, he is already our most physically gifted inside backer on the roster right now.

March-Lilliard better stay healthy or he could find himself cut.

He might get cut anyway if it comes down to the numbers game. If they only want to keep 4 ILBs, I can't see where he fits in. But, they could elect to keep 5 this year and cut down the OLB count to 5 as well where it has typically been 6.

Only Ben Gedeon had more on the bench press and Eligwe's 4.57 40 was faster than all LB's who ran at the combine.
4 star recruit who FSU recruited. Long arms and big hands.

This was a great pick at the end of the 5th rd.

DJ
Wilson
Eligwe
Alexander

They could keep him at the beginning of the season if DJ starts out on PUP.

My best guess is that Nicolas starts on the PUP, and they roll with 4 OLBs in the meantime. I can't see him being a full go by week 1.

Week 1 OLBs might be Houston, Ford, Hali, Zombo. The ILBs could be DJ, Wilson, Eligwe, Alexander, JML.

But when Nicolas comes back, one of those ILBs likely hits the curb unless injuries pile up again.

Whats a "phone booth blocker"?

He's good at blocking if he doesn't have to move. He's got an incredible anchor, that's for sure.

I think that's why he saw more success at C than he has at G.

Probably has to due with his weight gain and why he didn't get drafted.
