This is a great point, and one that most people who oppose hunting don't get. The money spent on hunting gear and licences goes, in large part, to conservation agencies. These agencies manage the populations, the land the animals live on in the wild, predator/prey ratios, etc. If there wasn't any form of hunting allowed at all, we'd have many species extinct or only in the zoo. If there was only non governed hunting, we'd have many species extinct, or only in the zoo. You can't have it both ways. Man is a predator. Fortunately, man is an intelligent predator that has learned to help to manage the species he preys on. If governed hunting was around 10,000 years ago, we'd still have wild mammoths, saber toothed cats, etc running around.

I saw one at the zoo in San Antonio a few years ago and yes, completely adorable!

Highlight of the visit though was the fight between two hippos! :eek:
