For anyone in their late 40's or beyond watched Batman many times, even if it was only to catch Batgirl or Catwomen in those skin tight outfits.

R.I.P. Adam West.

One final trip to the Batcave....

This one sucks. I was a huge fan of Batman and loved Adam West's sense of humor over the absurdity of the whole thing.

RIP. He seemed like a nice man.

But I'll never understand the following that show had. I thought it was horrible even when I was a little kid. Thank God the Batman movies that came later (with the exception of the two Joel Schumacher turds) were mostly serious.

I think it helps if you realize that the creators were fully aware of how cheesy and campy the enterprise was.

If you think they're trying to make a serious show, it comes of crappy.

If you realize they're purposefully making a silly show in a serious manner, it turns into sly dry humor.

It just never worked for me. It's not like a didn't like silly shows - I loved shows like Gilligan's Island and Get Smart. This one just seemed lame, and still does.

Funny, I'd wager than 99% of the times I've heard or read the word "campy" in my life are in reference to this show. If someone gave me the word "campy" in a word-association test, I'm sure my response would be "batman."

That's fine. I'm not some huge champion of the show. It's decent for what it is.

Just providing a perspective because you said you didn't understand what people saw in it.

Anyone who is a fan of the old show should be sure to check out Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016). There is also a sequel coming out that features William Shatner as Two Face.

I was the same with reruns as a kid. Just didn't get it.

That being said it always seemed like Adam West was a really good guy.

That scene in the Batman movie where he's hanging from the batcopter ladder and he's fighting off that shark had me in tears laughing.

Is that when he forgot to apply his Bat Shark Repellant Spray?

I think that was Peter Benchley's motivation for Jaws.

I didn't remember that Robin had to leave the Batcopter unmanned and bring it down to him. That added even more drama.

I saw that scene for the first time at my cousins' house when I was a little kid. Something about the scene really engaged me when I was six years old or so, and I really wanted to see the rest of the movie. But you couldn't get movies on demand in those days, so I never had a chance to see the whole movie until I was probably 12 or 14 or 16, and at that age it didn't seem as magical.

Ah ha ha!!

I had a hunch that you'd try something not quite kosher.
I've been wearing bat plugs up my nose.

June 15, 2017, 7:41 a.m. Bat-signal to glow at L.A. City Hall in honor of 'Batman' actor Adam West

The Bat-signal will be seen in Los Angeles on Thursday night in honor of "Batman" actor Adam West, who died June 9 (http://www.latimes.com/local/obituaries/la-me-adam-west-snap-story.html) at age 88. Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck will light the signal, which will be projected onto City Hall in a ceremony beginning at 9 p.m. Guests will arrive starting at 8. The Bat-signal, a comics version of 911 where the Caped Crusader answers the call, is employed by the Gotham City Police Department to summon Batman's help. Organizers said fans are welcome to show up at 200 N. Spring St. in downtown L.A. in costume.
