The Jennie O ones have a terrible consistency to them. Never again will I buy them.

I will try - you're being awfully harsh on them - the pepper jack are better than the standard. Learn to spread love over the internet instead of being so negative. It's a crock!

How do you cook them?

I received an Air Fryer for Father's Day and it's bombass.

No oil. Hickory Smoked Turkey Bacon and Veggie sausage are completely awesome.

Curly fries, chicken nuggets and fish sticks are incredible. No grease, no oil.

Although it would be hard to supplant the Kirkland salmon burgers as my go-to easy prep processed meat patty.

Oh he did for sure! They're not awful - Lew sensationalizes stuff with food, (so take his opinion as just that.) I can hold a conversation with the biggest foodies on CP and then head to White Castle - I'm really a well-rounded food poster - much more so than NFL football talk.

I buy the Butterball ones. Usually about $8 for 6 patties. Place frozen patty directly on hot grill, 8 minutes a side.

Done perfect each time. 31g of protein, 11 grams of fat.

The Jennie-O ones done the same way are the consistency of slightly hard paper mache when done.

Yep I have seen but not bit on them. Pollock kinda scares me off being a bottom feeder.

I've been able to overcome that with pollock and tilapia. Fish either swim in crap, eat crap, or both. More importantly, these fish are more sustainable.

There are some herbs in the pollock burgers that add a nice subtle flavor.

Simply Red
07-09-2017, 07:45 PM
I'd recommend grilling these things outside - I did the pan fry w/ a press and I ended up w/ a pepper jack cheezit on the bottom of the skillet from pressing the cheese out - i must have a sear though - so yeah - I added a piece of sharp cheddar to compensate.

Yeah. I like to use it the same way. When it's on sale I'll grab ground turkey and put it in the deep freeze.

Then I'm like what the fuck am I going to do with this after a month or more sitting in there. Perfect for chili. I use two pounds of burger typically in my chili but subbing in one pound for turkey is a great filler. Takes on flavor just fine without the grease that hamburger leaves behind.

Salmon is one of those things that I'm okay with, but don't really care about it enough to cook it myself or order it. If I'm at a place with salmon on the menu, they'll certainly also have something I like better.

There was salmon all over the place when we were in Alaska, but there was also crab all over the place, so to hell with salmon.

I get it. I just think I had some bland grandma patties that have stuck in my mind.

But how do you feel about Long John Silvers? What about liver and onions?

I'm going to ask the hard hitting questions.

LJS isn't as good as it once was, they've relied too much on their batter which is now too thick and their chicken and fish portions have obviously shrunk. Liver and onions are nothing I'd EVER mess with. I do (however) like a few nice fried chicken livers every so many years.

They've certainly fallen on hard times in my area - the last one that's open even remotely close to me is nearly half an hour away. I'll still go there, very, very rarely. I love it, but God that shit's horrible for you.

The idea of egg on a burger just seems disgusting to me as does andouille sausage. But then, I don't like andouille sausage either. Still the idea of mixing sausage and beef? I dunno. I want to have the hamburger beef because of how that tastes not completing meats in a burger.

I add avocados to anything and everything I can.

I'll have it on the side with scrambled eggs, mashed on turkey sandwiches or burgers, definitely with any type of taco (grilled chicken, carne asade or fish), tortilla soup and so on.

I buy the Jenny-O turkey breasts. They're like little hams, but they're turkey. I cut them in cubes and use them for kabobs on the grill with sirloin steak. Or I smoke them in my Weber GSM bullet smoker, then slice them thin. They're expensive, about $10 for the turkey, but boy, are they tasty. Sometimes I'll just roast one and do mashed potatoes, green beans and cranberry sauce. Instant Thanksgiving!
