I'd love Trent to be the guy. I think he calls things as he sees it and doesn't give homer takes.

Trent is too big time now for KC Sports radio.

At one point in time, Lenny was, too.

I'd imagine that if Trent wanted the job, it would be his in a heartbeat.

Not having to travel for the better part of 16 weeks might be appealing.

I've always liked listening to Derick Johnson interviews. I think with some training he could do well.

Of course, DJ is a millionaire and probably has no plans to work after retiring lol.

I haven't listened to Lenny since 2002, when I finally was able to have Direct TV and Sunday Ticket in 2003, but he was slipping back then.

Plus, he always seemed so cranky.

I LOVED him on Inside The NFL.

The show has never been the same since he and Nick were fired.

"The only way (current QB) can complete those types of throws is if the OL can give him more time!"

"The only way we'll stop those types of throws is if we get more pressure on the QB!"

There is my submission for his job. I'll mirror his contributions over the last ten years.

Am I hired?

Dawson, 82, is entering his 33rd year with the network. This season, he’ll contribute pre-produced segments and live pregame analysis leading up to kickoff.

Former Chiefs long snapper Kendall Gammon, who worked as an analyst for road games last year, will be the analyst for all Chiefs games.

That was a GREAT fucking show. I never missed a single episode the whole time it aired.

Len did his broadcast with a lot of class and taste, and he did it for a very long time. I always liked to listen to the post-game.

I always felt bad for him during those bad years. Herm. Haley. Then nights like the playoff game. UGH. I would love to hear him call a SB for the Chiefs.

I would also like to know if he hated Elway as much as he sounded on the radio.

For CBS he was pretty objective about KC and did a good job. When he did KC preseason games for the Chiefs Network he was full-on homer though.

That's a little bit different.

On radio you're in and out fairly quickly, usually. When you're a TV analyst you're out wherever for days to interview players and build up talking point shit whatevs.

So 50% less travel and less actual days away from home when you do.

Seems like he would say the same 3 things the past few years.

The QB needs more time to throw/get the play to develope

Defense needs to do a better job at rushing the passer

And OOF! Followed by a long akward silence of dead air.

I really enjoyed watching him and Nick do inside the NFL for all those years.

I remember my first time watching Inside the NFL on HBO. Our state championship 8 man football team got reward to go watch Oilers v Chiefs @ Arrowhead and it was a cold November drizzly day. Warren Moon broke a record for yards over 500 miles long & Steve Deberg broke his pinky on an Oiler helmet. They talked about it on Inside the NFL and showed several replays of it. Lenny was my favorite on that show I liked his analyst style.

If there is any animosity towards him, it's because he has been in the job far too long, and it shows. He was great for the first 40 years. He has been bored and boring for the last 8 years or so.

I grew up listening to Buddy Blattner and Denny Mathews, and I used to be a big fan of his. Now I can't stand him. He brings no excitement or enthusiasm whatsoever to the broadcasts.

Exactly.

I didn't grow up with him, but I've heard clips of when he was younger. Completely different radio experience.

These days if I were driving in the car and wanted to keep tabs on the game, I'd rather just get occasional score updates than listen to someone like Denny call the game.

Well, the man is in his 80s. Some guys earn the right to stay until they choose to leave. Len Dawson is one of those guys.
