Both guys had sacks last night.

Guys who have attended training camp practice--- anything stand out to you about either player? Do either of them have a faint chance of unseating Zombo or at least potentially clinging on as a 5th OLB for the team?

Rush got blocked into a sack.

okine seemed to always be around the ball. Rush would be a liability on the field.

I can't tell if Bausby is good or not

Didn't see him at camp but attended the game.

Rush is awful. Worst player on the field most of the night. Couldn't hold contain and was completely lost in coverage.

Maybe it was just a bad night but he looked like a clear roster cut to me.

But he has 7 sacks in 5 preseason games...

Rush looked tiny.

Rush got blocked into a sack.

You also claimed in the GDT that he didn't get called for roughing the passer because he is white.

Your opinions are null and void.

Totally moot.

Are we talking Mike Catapano level?

Or is this more like "Dee Ford's first step?"

Rush will be cut.

Okine plays physical as heck, but technically he is raw. If the club could be patient with him, maybe he develops into a situational pass rusher.
I cannot comment on whether either player has upside in a special teams role.

It's because you have jerry Jones as an avatar.

The upside for either of these guys is what R-Kal Trulock? Rush lead the 9ers in sacks the last two preseasons..... they'll have to make the teams as ST players.

Neither one of them is on the level of Nate Hobgood-Chittick, though.

For the first time since 13' depth looks to be an issue

I hope we finally invest in some linebacker talent in the draft next year.

I did. He led the pre season in sacks last year with the 49ers. I heard the name but never knew what he looked like. Thought he was black with a name Marcus

Okine has tons of athletic ability but it looks like he doesn't have a clue what his responsibilities are on any given play. Got caught inside on several run plays to his side. Gave up some chunk running plays.

From what I could see Friday, neither one of them could set the edge to save their lives. Rush gets washed out by blockers against the run and Okine seems to think getting into the backfield is more important than setting the edge. He got good penetration but had no idea where the ball was.

When Rush wasn't getting washed out he was removing himself from the play. He looked like a complete liability out there. couldn't set the edge to save his life.

I think both have holes in their game that a year on the practice squad could potentially rectify.

I wouldn't put them on the 53, however.

Getting good penetration is very hard to coach, though. Okine is definitely practice squad worthy.

The fundamentals of run defense can be coached up.

Dee Ford used to be an abortion against the run. Now he's okay.

Okine looked like every defensive play for him was a jailbreak blitz. But I can't deny he has athletic skills. A PS candidate for certain. Rush, didn't stand out at all (at least for the good).
