you went one game too far back. which came first, the win or the loss :D

Game 1 – Cardinals 25 @ Eagles 24; September 12,1999. This was a home loss against the Cardinals, ending with a box score of Eagles 24, Cardinals 25. In this game, Reid’s offense turned out 138 rushing yards with one touchdown, and 67 passing yards with two touchdowns. The defense gave up a combined 344 yards, two touchdowns, and four field goals including the game winning kick. The defense also nabbed three interceptions.

Game 2- Eagles 41 @ Cowboys 14; September 3, 2000. This was a road win against the Cowboys. Calling it a win, however is selling Reid’s team way short. The Cowboys were demolished by the Eagles 41 to 14! The rushing attack was the workhorse here as the team finished with 306 yards and 3 touchdowns on the ground. There also was a pick-six and two field goals that helped seal the deal. Donovan McNabb also threw one score.

Game 3 – Rams 20 @ Eagles 17; September 9, 2001. This was the first of two overtime games for Reid. It was a 20-17 loss at home to the Rams. Donovan McNabb was leading the charge on this one with a stat line of 312 yards and two touchdowns. The loss came on a field goal in overtime.

Game 4 – Eagles 24 @ Titans 27; September 8, 2002. Opening game 4 was a road loss to the Titans. Reid lost 27-24 that day thanks partly to two interceptions thrown by McNabb. However, McNabb had three touchdown passes to balance that out. What tipped the scales was a lost fumble that allowed the Titans to seal their victory.

Game 5 – Buccaneers 17 @ Eagles 0; September 8, 2003. This dark day was a home loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I say dark day, it was a really dark day for the Eagles. This game was a 17-0 shutout with the defense doing all it can to make up for an offense that couldn’t get going. Doesn’t that sound familiar?

Game 6 – Giants 31 @ Eagles 17; September 12, 2004. This game was a home thrashing of the New York Giants. A good 31-17 beat down. This victory was carried out by McNabb and the four touchdowns he threw that game.

Game 7 – Eagles 10 @ Falcons 14; September 12 2005. Game 7, a road loss to the Atlanta Falcons, ended with a score of 14-10. McNabb did all he could to keep his team in the game but the Eagles came up short this game. McNabb threw the only touchdown the Eagles had this game.

Game 8 – Eagles 24 @ Texans 10; September 10, 2006. A 24-10 win over the Texans on the road, Reid took home this win thanks to McNabb and the three touchdowns he threw. The one sore spot from this game was one interception McNabb threw also. He did have a nice 314 yards to go with his three scores.

Game 9 – Eagles 13 @ Packers 16; September 9, 2007. This must have been an interesting game to watch. A road loss to the Green Bay Packers to the tune of 16-13. Here’s the strange thing, in nearly every category, the Eagles out performed the Packers. This includes touchdowns with the only offensive touchdown coming from a McNabb pass. The Packers were able to get a fumble recovered in the end zone early on and kicked one more field goal than the Eagles for the win though. Turnovers killed the Eagles this game. This too sounds familiar right? The Packers never even scored an offensive touchdown and still won!

Game 10 – Rams 3 @ Eagles 38; September 7, 2008. The Eagles manhandled the Rams in this home win. The final score was 38-3, ouch. McNabb showed up big time with 414 yards and three touchdown passes. Tony Hunt and Brian Westbrook added two rushing scores to rub salt in the wound. I bet Reid was proud of this victory.

Game 11 – Eagles 38 @ Panthers 10; September 13, 2009. The 11th opening game Reid coached was a road win over the Carolina Panthers 38-10. The defense and rushing offense won the day here. The Panthers threw five interceptions and the ground game churned out two scores with 185 yards. McNabb had one touchdown and one interception.

Game 12 – Packers 27 @ Eagles 20; September 12, 2010. This home loss to the Packers ended with a score of 27-20. Here the Eagles’ offensive yardage surpassed the Packers’ numbers but the Packers outscored them. McNabb threw one touchdown and no interceptions. The rushing game added a touchdown to that as well. The defense created a couple turnovers as well. However, the Eagles had one turnover and several penalties that contributed to their loss.

Game 13 – Eagles 31 @ Rams 13; September 11, 2011. A road win against the Rams finishing at 31-13. Reid sure likes to crush the Rams! Makes me think of how he also seems to have Derek Carr’s number. Michael Vick led the charge on this one. He threw two touchdowns and no interceptions. LeSean McCoy had a huge game, leading a ground attack that totaled 236 yards and one score. The defense generated five sacks, held the passing offense to no scores and stopped 10 of the 12 3rd down conversion attempts the Rams made.

Game 14 – Eagles 17 @ Browns 16; September 9, 2012. This was the last opening game Reid would play with the Eagles. Barely eeking out a 17-16 win against the Cleveland Browns. Michael Vick didn’t have the best game of his career, throwing two touchdowns but also four interceptions. The Eagles did just barely hold onto the win, but this game was essentially a contest of who sucked the least.

Game 15 – Chiefs 28 @ Jaguars 2; September 8, 2013. The christening game of Reid’s tenure with the Chiefs. Reid started his time here on the right foot with a 28-2 destruction of the Jacksonville Jaguars. All aspects of the team showed up in this game. The only mishap was the punt block for a safety early on. After that, the defense nabbed two interceptions, one of which was a pick six by Tamba Hali. What a sight that was! Alex Smith threw two touchdowns and Jamaal Charles ran one in as well. That’s how you start off with your new team!

Game 16 – Titans 26 @ Chiefs 10; September 7, 2014. This was a 26-10 loss at Arrowhead to the Titans. The Chiefs were outplayed in nearly every category that day. The only good takeaway being the one touchdown Smith managed to work in. Other than that, the Titans had their way with us.

Game 17 – Chiefs 27 @ Texans 20; September 13, 2015. A road win against the Texans with a final score of 27-20. Smith threw three touchdowns this game. Two of them to newcomer Travis Kelce. Cairo Santos added two field goals to seal the win.

Game 18 – Chargers 27 @ Chiefs 33; September 11, 2016. The most recent of Reid’s opening games. An overtime win at Arrowhead against the division rival Chargers, the Chiefs won thanks to a scrambling touchdown from Smith. In this game, the passing offense kept the Chiefs in the game, Smith throwing two scores. The defense also gets credit for holding the Chargers back to setup a win for us.

Will teams follow the Steeler's plan from last year's playoff game against us? Pittsburgh played more conservative on offense, preventing our defense from winning the game with turnovers. They forced our offense to go the length of the field to win the game.

Brady has lost 17 of 118 games at home as a starter.

Since 2007, Brady is 50-1 at home against AFC opponents.

I meant to type 4-0.

Regardless, that stat about Brady being something like 50-1 in home games against AFC teams in the last decade is ridiculous. (and the only one they lost was a meaningless week 17 game in which they rested starters and Brady only appeared in the first half.)

If our run defense is the same as it was vs Pittsburgh, then good fricking night. Pats would destroy us. We probably wouldn't even be able to win the division.

All my predictions are predicted on the belief that KC has upgraded their defense in 2017. It should be a tough unit to even move the ball in, much less score on

If not, then the Raiders are probably the #1 team in the AFC West

Houston is a fucking terminator.

As long as he has 4 limbs he face-rapes both NE's left or right tackle.

Brady is good enough to get the ball away quickly but NE has no counter to a healthy Houston vs. their O line...

I know it hasn't been to many years since they started this Thursday night opener with the defending SB champs but I don't recall even one of the SB champs losing this game. Correct me if I am wrong though.

I meant to type 4-0.

Regardless, that stat about Brady being something like 50-1 in home games against AFC teams in the last decade is ridiculous. (and the only one they lost was a meaningless week 17 game in which they rested starters and Brady only appeared in the first half.)

I guess Brady could turn into a pumpkin tomorrow, but it seems doubtful.

Thanks, and I see your point was just trying to clarify the numbers.

Right. There is NO way to chip block him or double team him.

When healthy, no.

Brady can fire it off and unload quick if the game plan says so.

He's not a quick release guy though...

What? We are 3-1 in Reid openers. We beat the Chargers 33-27 in Arrowhead last year

Football is a 60 minute game

Doh! Not sure what I was seeing but the fact that we have won both road openers still stands. :D
