What's the difference between a shallow tear and a full tear when it comes to recovery?

I dunno about achilles, but partial tears usually heal without surgery.

They might shut him down and put him in a boot for 6 or 8 weeks and hope it heals on its own. They did this with Houston's knee in 15, hoping to get him back by playoff time, even though he clearly wasn't healthy when he came back. Surgery would mean IR.

This reminds me of Gordo's injury in 2015 back when he was still leading the Royals. We all rejoiced when we found out it was a Grade 2 groin strain, and man did he return just in time for the playoffs and was a big reason why we won it all.

I've also been going to college in a Athletic Training program and from what we've been taught so far is there are many complications with plantar and dorsiflexion after a complete tear in the Achilles. Also as most of you know there is usually if not always a pop or a snap that is quite audible. You can also visiually see the Achilles actually roll up the posterior calf and bunch up in a complete tear because the amount of tension the Achilles holds. So far it's been a weird situation where the obvious signs for a complete tear haven't been there but it's "suspected" by all the "professionals"

You must be the world's shittiest stalker.

Stalker? Where the fuck do you come up with that? I remember something posted here on CP about you being a nurse.

So, that's where it came from.

I didn't see it roll up, and there was a clear view on the replay.

Same, and if I do remember correctly with both of DJ's you could see his lower posterior leg actually shutter or "shake" when the rupture happened, could be wrong but that's off of pure memory.

I'll take it.

Make it so.

With world class athletes, even a partial tear might be enough for the Orthopedist to convince him to do a surgery to work on the damaged tendons to reduce the likelihood of future re-rupture/full thickness tear. In that scenario he could be back later this season and Eric Murray will have good experience under his belt.

It's gonna be a long 12-16 hours

Let's hope for the best and expect the worse. Again, this heel issue dates back to January. Might want to give him a lot of time off anyways.

Yea, DJ was completely stuck in a sitting position and didn't make any movement of the foot on the affected leg

How do you feel about giving Calvin Pryor a shot?

Maybe a change of scenery?

There's no replacing Berry, but as I mentioned earlier-- if this is the offense we are going to get on a weekly basis, they will be fine. Much more balanced team.

It sucks when your superstar has a major injury in the first game. He was playing almost perfect football tonight.

Went through the same thing with Keenan Allen last year. I feel very bad, but the difference is you guys are better than we were. I hope it's not major and he's back in a few weeks.

Also last year when Keenan got injured a bunch of you posted "stay down bitch." Doesn't feel so good when it happens to your guy.

I was actually impressed with Mitchell. After getting burnt early on he came back and made some fantastic plays. And once again my man Ron Parker leading the team tonight with 10 tackles

For being out of all the pre season games he had to just shake off the rust it been awhile since he played a game.

is there a clause in his contract that he can be cut if he is injured for a full year, with his history and all?

i only ask is this will be what, his third year missed out of 8? :D

i joke, will miss him, but goddamnit :cuss:

@RapSheet: Sources: #Browns are expected to release S Calvin Pryor just a few days before the opener after a fight with a teammate before practice.

I 100% expect Pryor to be signed as soon as we have a diagnosis on Berry. It makes too much sense not to. Unless the consensus is that he's a psychopath, you gotta overlook the fight thing and do what you can to add veteran talent to the defensive backfield right now.

I bet since they give him a max deal that it has a clause for oncological diseases and they had Berry pay the insurance on it. But no, he gets the same rights as any other player on a contract for standard injuries

Absolutely hate to hear about Berry. One of the class guys in the NFL, and despite being a Chief, one of my favorite guys to watch outside the Raiders. Hoping for the best outcome.

Yea that makes sense, spent his whole career with the Jets, was drafted by Ryan so he likely won't have a very steep learning curve here.
