Wilson does a great job compensating for his surroundings, but it's taking a toll. He's 30th (!) in yards-per-attempt (5.39) on this young season, and he doesn't rank among the top 20 quarterbacks in Football Outsiders' DVOA or Pro Football Focus' ratings.

That ball's not coming out of his hand with any snap at all. Even when he's reaching back for something extra, it's just not there. I think the overthrows are a product of having to push his arm harder to make basic throws and losing the accuracy/feel for it (like swinging to hard in golf, for example).

He played last season with a bum ankle or knee, right? He was constantly having to compensate for not getting the leg drive he was used to. That might have led him to leaning harder on his shoulder to generate velocity. If so, he may just be dealing with some genuine arm fatigue that he just hasn't bounced back from. He may have developed some lingering shoulder tendinitis that's keeping him from getting the same snap on the ball.

But he doesn't look healthy at all. Line or no line, he doesn't look like a QB with a plus skill-set. He looks like a shorter DeShaun Watson.

The worst throw in the group of gifs there is the 3rd one. He's standing upright with a nice pocket. He plants his back leg, steps into his throw looks to get good rotation. Mechanically he doesn't look bad there (though I'd say he short arms his release a bit).

But the ball does noooooothing. It just floats out of his hand and dies 12 yards downfield. That's what tells me that there's just something wrong with his arm. He tried to put some muscle on that ball and there just wasn't anything behind it.

Either way, Seattle needs to fix him and the situation. Wilson has wilted in the face of adversity. Eli Manning has also been a disaster lately, but he's always had a terrible OL. I think he's just too damn old to make it work now.
