Smith's high level of play has been a nice surprise, but I'm not sure what has really changed after Q1. We probably expected 3-1 at this point. We knew that if the offense played well the Chiefs have about a 12 win ceiling, otherwise they are a bubble team.

All the same questions still remain from last year. Play calling, clock and TO management, shaky o-line play, issues with the secondary, penalties and discipline still limit the team at times. When the big plays don't come, the defense has a hard time getting off the field. The offense disappears for quarters at a time. They seem to be boom or bust from series to series on both sides of the ball. You need more consistent play to make a deep playoff run.

I'm sure they will make the playoffs, but what has changed over last year, really? Can we really say that this team is so upgraded over last year that we can expect a deep playoff run? Probably not, unless Alex Smith has really transformed into Aaron Rodgers at age 33.

This has been a fun stretch, but any Lombardi aspirations still sit with Mahomes.
