He's living off the NE game. He's largely been the Alex Smith of old ever since. Ultra conservative, dink and dunk, average QB. The only difference the in games 1-4 ish is that he'd have a few big plays sprinked in and didn't throw a pick.

Not that I think the team will suddenly turn it around with Mahomes, but I guess I'm ready to see him, too.

The pros are that Mahomes gets the reps heading into next season against lower-quality opponents mostly at home.

The cons are that we might not win a playoff game this season - which isn’t happening anyway with Smith.

But yes, we need to get the experience rolling.

Wentz was way better than okay. They started 5-0 and their lack of receiving options held him back. After their 2017 offseason, they added weapons and are 8-1.

Goff was hosed by the coaching staff.

That won’t happen to Mahomes.

Needs to happen but probably wont. Andy needs to call Smith out but wont he held the ball to long so many times today. So your receiving corps is decimated deal with it. Wentz was way better than okay. They started 5-0 and their lack of receiving options held him back. After their 2017 offseason, they added weapons and are 8-1.

Goff was hosed by the coaching staff.

The intent is to provide fans with a sense of pride and accomplishment for unlocking different kinds of disappointment.

As for cost, we selected initial values based upon data from the last 30 seasons and other adjustments made to milestone rewards before launch. Among other things, we're looking at average per-player hope-to-disappointment rates on a daily basis, and we'll be making constant adjustments to ensure that fans have hopes that are compelling, rewarding, and of course unattainable via gameplay.

We appreciate the candid feedback, and the passion the community has put forth around the current topics here on Chiefsplanet, our forums and across numerous social media outlets.

Our team will continue to make changes and monitor community feedback and disappoint everyone as soon and as often as we can.

Because that’s how it works. Listen I came here an alex fan after the benching fiasco and enjoyed seeing Alex play peak ball at the beginning of the season. I like several afc teams as a fan of the sport and chiefs are top of the list. If this was madden with no repercussions then you make the swap. But there’s relationships built and alex is the leader of the team and Andy prob wants to see alex try to fight through the down part of the season and make a push and run. I don’t think it will happen and it’s not just because of Alex. The play calling, running game, oline and defense as a whole is seriously lacking. Alex isn’t going to overcome it. Every snap Alice takes is a complete waste of time. The guy has been in the league for 13 years and he’s not going to just wake up one day and be a franchise QB. Might as well put in Mahomes to play against a softer schedule at the end of the year so he can develop and we can see how good he really is. The rest of the team would probably start playing better immediately.

I dont think it will happen this season. The hot start put the Chiefs near the top of the playoff race from the outset and I think Reid just wants to get in and see what he can come up with then. That playoff position is shrinking weekly but Reid thinks hes smarter than his counterparts and will simply out scheme them despite the deficiencies in personnel. I think hed prefer to stick with the known entity at QB over the unknown at this point and squeeze out enough wins to make the playoffs, and given the state of the division thats very likely, as is a one and done.

Mahomes is the future of Chiefs football, but I dont think Andy is ready to start it yet.

Totally get your point but did the Texans really think Watson was thoroughly ready, did the Bears think Trebisky was thoroughly ready and did the Cowboys really think Prescott was ready? I’m sure all of them would say no. The Texans and the Bears still had a choice to keep their original starters in. Alex spends more time reading defenses on his 1459 option read plays that rarely ever work.

I'd like to see a QB who's not afraid to drop back and pass like an actual, you know, Quarterback. Maybe we can run an offense instead of this gadgety cute college bullshit that even the most shitty of defenses have figured out how to stifle.

Everybody on the team has lost confidence in Alex, they know he doesn't have the ability or the desire to be a leader. Once Mahomes is installed as the quarterback the whole team will be transformed and start running through brick walls to help him succeed. It will be like a snowball rolling downhill. A true leader makes the people around him perform better, Alex does not possess this quality. It's time to start the next chapter in the Chiefs legacy. Alex Smith needs to be removed as the starter and let him spend his last days as a Chief holding a clipboard.
