Paraphrase:Everyone loved us the first five weeks. Now nobody is on the bandwagon. It's just us. (The players.)

Not sure if that was directed to fans, media or both. Sounded a bit disappointed and dejected. Short interview, not much of substance regarding Chiefs.

Other topics:

We're frustrated. No moping or staying down. Can't look backwards. Gotta play ourselves out of this little funk.

We're one good series from being back in it. Just need to clean up the little things.

Trust what you've been coached to do, just play. Can't worry about past games.

Team is not spoiled by success. Not an issue of work ethic or taking things for granted. We played some good opponents. Have to turn attention to details.

That's not the first time I have heard an interview with him described that way. I think he has depression. I am not just criticizing it kind of reminds of when I found out Springsteen had it. Sometimes it just baffles us how someone could feel that way that has so much going for them. I get its chemical but still hard to understand.

It's weird how fans like a 5-0 team more than a 1-4 team.

Hard to figure out what's got fans (and pundits) crossing them off of the contender list.

I heard KK's promo for the segment, but didn't hear the interview. In the promo, KK said something about Smith saying when he watched the tape of the game he was surprised at seeing guys open down the field, and that he is not recognizing that fact during the plays.

I was actually hoping to hear that, but got bored with the show before it came on and missed it.

Only people that were on the bandwagon were the ones that chose to ignore the first 12 years of this bums career.

Wake me when Mahomes gets his shot. Then maybe I'll give a fuck about the Chiefs again. Until then its going to be the same football-less Sundays for me, just like the last 2 years.

Yet Andy keeps trotting him out there week after week. So what's the conclusion to draw off of this?

- that the targets are not as reasonably open as described?
- that maybe Andy has the dementia?
- that while Smith is that bad, he is still the best option at QB?

:hmmm:

Smith is not to be applauded over the last recent weeks. I am not even saying anymore that he is the best QB option on the roster, at this point.

All the same, and as usual though, the media-duped fans easily crawl back to the exaggerated vilification of him.

A man needs to feel that he's a success to be content. And every time Smith turns on ESPN, or local radio, or national radio, or gets on facebook, or God forbid, message boards...it's nothing but ridicule or disrespect. The high that he was likely riding a month ago is completely gone and he's probably as deflated as he's ever been.

Of course, to many, it would be a wild success just to have wife as hot as his and the bank account. But it's all relative.

That's funny, because I'm sure nobody trusts him to get them the ball consistently.

I'm not sure I've seen many quarterbacks with such a high threshold to trust a receiver. What has Alex ever done to think he has any right to place high expectations and requirements on other players? Look in the mirror Alex.

Exactly...I dont hate the team...quite the opposite. Frankly, I have been a fan of this team for more than 30 years. The problem, however, is that it seems no matter who is the coach, GM or players, they have this loser mentality.

Any modicum of success suddenly turns into this morass of losing...some weak link that is exploited by the other teams that KC has no answer for and it's fucking frustrating to see happen over and over and over again.

At this point, I expect the Chiefs to shit their pants after a good run, it's just what they do...they fail.

Doesnt make me hate them, it's just what I've come to expect...unfortunately.

We were 5-0 when Smith was chucking the ball downfield. We're 1-4 playing checkdown. Opposing teams stack 8 in the box because they know they don't have to defend any farther than 15 yards. I'll live with an INT or 2 past 20 yards. There is no reason not to go back to what worked early in the season. The O-line is better with the return of Morse and LDT. Throw the damn ball deep.

I really cannot believe this prick didn't take any personal responsibility for the loss this week. We were supposed to have goddamn Super Bowl aspirations and just went out and blew a game against a bottom feeder off the bye.

And it was all HIS fault. The only reason the Giants scored in regulation was his fucking turnovers. And in overtime he turtled. He went and hid with the game on the line.

And all he says this week...

A total shirking of responsibility as team leader considering his performance.

The KC media are fucking cowards. Call this guy out.

This. I get mad when people blame Gaines. Gaines sucks and should be cut, but that have should never been even remotely close enough for Gaines's crappy coverage to decide the game

He's not our only problem - he's just the memory we lock on to.

QB was a problem. The running game was a problem. Play calling was a HUGE problem.

Alex Smith isn't exactly an inspirational leader.

Hes a beta for sure.

The plays called weren't the problem. The QB's play was the problem in the NYG game. Our WR's and TE's were open while the OL protected fine.

Smith audibled, which is every time he says Kill Kill, a lot in that game. Those plays would then be on him since he changed the original play at the line of scrimmage.

I really cannot believe this prick didn't take any personal responsibility for the loss this week. We were supposed to have goddamn Super Bowl aspirations and just went out and blew a game against a bottom feeder off the bye.

And it was all HIS fault. The only reason the Giants scored in regulation was his ****ing turnovers. And in overtime he turtled. He went and hid with the game on the line.

And all he says this week...

The only way AS calls himself out is IF Mahomes is not on this roster. Otherwise, he would have done the standard AS thing like he has the previous 4yrs, "I have to play better because that loss was on me with the turnovers and not moving the ball".

Teams hadnt switched over to cover 2-3 during the 5-0 run, now they have... and not only that, but Smiths arm has clearly lost some pop

The few long throws he has attempted during the skid are wobble launchers, add those two factors together, and you get Smiff instead of Smith

I hate to think of how badly these little ****s would be wailing if they didn’t play in such a docile media market like KC. They’d be roasting these assholes alive in Philly and Chicago. **** them. Stop sucking and it will get better.

Truth. I listen to NYC sports media now and again and just shake my head at how pitiful and gutless KC media is.
