View Full Version : Music Where to stay in Hermann, Mo.?

For one of Mrs. Tomahawks Christmas gifs this year, I wanted to treat her to a short weekend trip to Hermann, MO without the kids.

I am looking to make reservations sometime in April/May and will probably do just a Fri-Sun deal. Just a quickie...as that is what I am known for. :D

For those who have been there for a similar "date night" type of deal, where did you stay and what all did you do?

Wine is a must for her... Walkable would be nice... I would like to stay somewhere that has a decent view of the surroundings, not an alley. Tyler Bray.

XoXo,
Tomahawk.

Secret Vine. Within walking distance to 3 or 4 wineries, and a block away from the main drag with the newer restaurants. Plus all rooms have private entrances.

Wurstfest

Saturday & Sunday, March 24-25

The 39th annual Hermann Wurstfest celebrates all things sausage with samples and sales, statewide contests for amateur and professional wurstmeisters, German music and dancing and the ever-popular Wiener Dog Derby on Sunday afternoon.

How could you pass up the Wiener Dog Derby? :hmmm:

Not sure your budget but we do a Hermann trip every year. This has been my favorite place we stayed, but it was on the pricier side. They have rooms in the main hotel building and then a bunch of really cool different cottages up on a hill overlooking the river. We stayed in Brahm's room. Here is there website:

My wife and I used to go there annually and stay at Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn. Cottages that have nice, private outdoor hot tubs looking out over the river. Great experience. Not walking distance to wineries so somebody has to stay sober enough for short drive home. Seems like some driving is in order for most destinations anyway, though. Recommend Cottage #2 as it is a top floor.

I thought you were trying to keep your job at Missy B's a secret. It's out now...

Billay dresses up pretty good, At least there is good Q up the street.

If you are looking for B+B secret vine is not it going to cut it. Unless things have changed most rooms are nicely furnished dumps.

I found this for example:

Herman used to be a multiple time trip every year when I was in KC or St Louis as the train serviced both. I have never had difficulty getting to the outlying vineyards but you better check on that. I always used the trolley, cabs or shuttle buses on in season weekends.

I normally did not stay in Herman proper but prefer to find dinner elsewhere and stay in remote B+B's so I can't help you there. Hermanhoff Inn is a great choice. I suggest you contact the Herman Chamber lodging page as when I have stayed I have found some unique places. http://visithermann.com/plan-your-getaway/lodging/check-lodging-availability/

Enjoy your time in Hermann, I need to get back there soon, I's a great place to wear your "Whiney Little Bitch" hat in style.:D:D

Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn is what you´re looking for.

Pricier, but worth it.

I stayed in both the inn and the cottages and if you like rustic then Hermanhoff is great, If you want new construction made to look older then Herman Hill may work for you. I am not familiar with it what so ever.

I checked rates for Thursday and Friday nights before Memorial Day and nice rooms were $300 at both for suites, Hoff had classic rooms for $250.

Herman Hill was in the $350 with classic rooms in the $290-300 area with cottages having the same price options. I personally dislike having a Jacuzzi in the middle of my room but...

I'd go for Hermanhoff personally and depending on when you go the inn is a nice option in case of rain or snow...Either of the other places is a hike from DT as you can expect for the views.

The center circle is the Hoff Inn the circle to the left is the Hoff cottages and the circle to the right is Hermann Hill. The yellow are the routes to the center of town. For me, especially after a nice meal and a lot of wine, I like walking a few blocks to my room and taking the elevator to my room vs a 20-25 minute walk uphill.

For $125 there is a Mercantile store in a very nearby town that can be had for $125 a night that is cooler than crap. It's 49 minutes away (on foot).. 5 minutes by car. Shuttle service, upon request, is a great thing here.

On Stage
Missouri's largest B&B room (probably).
Formerly a vaudevillian theater and dance hall now converted into an interesting B&B room overlooking the Katy Trail state park. Please note that this photo was taken before we started using the room as an additional B&B room. Full sized bed and futon with additional air bed available for an additional fee. Refrigerator in the room. Private bath with large claw foot tub and shower. Private entrance and indoor bike parking. Breakfast prepared and served downstairs from locally sourced ingredients.

The Yuge room has furniture in it, really, sofa chairs, dining table, large shower and claw tub wifi

Once you get the cases of beer hauled up there, you're set. No need to hit the head, you can just hang the old wangster off the deck and get in a little aiming practice.

Speaking of aiming practice, that looks like a sweet vantage point for a little shooting. It looks woodsy enough were you have a decent chance of bagging a whitetail and if undesirables show up, you already have the high ground. :)
