View Full Version : Chiefs Late Night Bullshit: Where would we be with Foles?

Alex Smith has flirted with an MVP season. Foles looked great in relief of Wentz last week.

Last year Foles looked amazing vs Indy and struggled against a good Jaguars defense.

What would this team have gone last year had they stuck with Foles I've Alex? What would their record be with Foles as the starter this year? Keep in mind this team could have signed Foles to be the starter for half the cost of Alex.

if foles were better than alex foles would have started. foles playing for the non concussed alex was a benching to wake up smith. other than that he is there for emergency use only. hence why he is starting and not chase daniel. :D

No worse than missing numerous wide-open receivers, taking a lot of gratuitous sacks, and checking down more plays than necessary.

IOW, good (and connected) enough to keep playing but not win playoff game, but not bad enough to replace.

Lost me on your first line. Foles did not look amazing in the relief of Wentz, in fact the difference was dramatic. Yeah, he got the job done but he didn't look amazing.

Why Not?

Yep, he didn't lose the game for them but a couple of his throws had me concerned since I had a couple thousand CP dollars on the Eagles. . :D

That sounds about right. Foles is one of the best backups and may be better than some starters and put up big numbers early in his career. But smith wins a couple more than foles. Not saying much though that your starter is slightly better than the league's best backup.

Foles looked like shit in KC under our QB genius.

Wrong.

He had one very good game, and one below average game, which we still won, in the same fashion we won a lot of Alex's games in KC.

The two TD passes Foles threw from distance tonight are throws Alex never even attempts. He's running on both throws due to pressure/perceived pressure.

I dunno where this team would be with Foles instead of Alex, but I've NEVER seen him try to take off running like a dumbass from clean pockets, which killed our fucking season.

We won one playoff game in five seasons with ASS11. Foles has won two in one season.

It is what it is.

Smith was a fucking waste, Foles might have been, too, but I bet he wouldn't have cost this team as much.

QB's to have played in a SB in the last 5 years...

Tom Brady
Matt Ryan
Peyton Manning
Cam Newton
Russell Wilson
Joe Flacco
Colin Kaepernick

... and soon to be Nick Foles.

Smith did have his NFC Championship game appearance. 1-13 on 3rd down in a narrow loss. Had some weapons too. Crabtree, Davis, and Gore. O-line was considered one of the best too.

Red Dawg
01-22-2018, 06:43 AM
Bum is the name for Smith. That's what a QB is when they can't beat good teams. Smith is way to inconsistent to win anything. He goes to sleep in games and you lose when you need to win in the playoffs

We would be nowhere with foles. Just like we are nowhere with smith. My fear is being nowhere with mahomes, because I'm starting to believe Reid is the real problem.

This isn't me saying Alex is ok now. I still think he is gutless and plays it too safe. We are seeing a trend with Andy now and is truly horrifying.

I’m convinced Andy Reid would still find a way to fuck it up. We’ve added play makers to this offense every fucking year and he still finds ways to go into a shell and go three and out with these chickenshit horizontal play calls when we have the opportunity to put games away. Tennessee was ready to give up, you could see their defensive players frustration. Suddenly the Chiefs go into a shell and it totally seemed to give them confidence.

I don't have this fear with Mahomes. The offense looked different with Mahomes in Denver. Now the plays were the same, but it was how Mahomes attacked it. He throws to an open Harris. Smith doesn't/won't at a critical time against the Titans. Mahomes throws to the open Hill sprinting past the Steelers defense in the playoffs because he sees it pre snap. Smith won't throw it because "it's not in his progression of reads". With Mahomes we attack downfield when the defense jumps offsides. With Smith we take the free five yards. Third and long. Mahomes throws to the sticks. Smith checks it down.

I don't fear Andy turning Mahomes into Smith. Andy has said he wished he could have had Smith earlier in his career. He knows he can't fix Alex. He can't t make Alex into Mahomes.

It's not really Foles' call to make. If Philly wants to keep him, and they might if Wentz is not 100%, they might with the thought that he will be backup when he returns. No way Philly would ever consider starting Foles over Wentz.

Wouldn't be surprised if the eagles make Foles prime trade bait at the trade deadline next year.

FOLES will probably put up another seven TD game vs. the Patriots in the Super Bowl but the ref's will go flag happy and take them away. The players play and the Ref's are the directors of the plays. They decide the outcome.
