If the guy assaulted Smith's sister, he had it coming.

I'm assuming that's an issue of interest to the case, assuming that Sean came to her defense. But even so, I think there's generally a limit on acceptable defense. Punch the guy and throw him out the door if it's warranted. But the guy had to constitute a major threat to stomp on his head numerous times while he's unconscious. Sean might have a hard time defending the severity of the actions.

The 2017 campaign sure has been a rocky one for the Raiders. Their Super Bowl aspirations quickly died away.

To make matters worse, off-the-field disturbances are stealing the headlines today.

Oakland Raiders backup cornerback Sean Smith is facing serious charges that could send him to jail and ultimately end his NFL career.

Smith was involved in an incident on July 4 this year when he allegedly brutally assaulted the then-boyfriend of his sister, Christopher Woods.

Smith allegedly stomped the head of the Woods on a curb, leaving him unconscious and forcing him to undergo surgeries to repair his face and eye sockets. Woods could also face permanent injuries because of it.

Two witnesses testified to the incident and according to reports, Smith could face up to seven years in prison if found guilty.

The nine-year veteran spent time with the Dolphins and Chiefs before joining the Raiders last season. He's started 21 games over his two years in Oakland, totaling 68 tackles and four interceptions.

With a loss on Sunday to the Cowboys, the Raiders are just about knocked out of playoff contention and could be in danger of losing Smith permanently.

If these disturbing allegations are true, there's no question Smith deserves to be punished for his actions.

He will stand trial in early January and the Raiders will have a much better idea of the situation come next year.

So what's the over/under on when we have the same thread on Marcus Peters?

Actually, there's 2 bets, 1 main w/2 parts, and a side bet :

1a : Does he attack a coach or a female?

1b : Does he actually get charged this time?

2-Side bet : If he DOES get charged the next time he attacks someone, will it be a felony or misdemeanor?

I'm positive he chocked a coach when in college at Washington...and rumore has it he attacked Dave Toub in the locker room post-Jets game meltdown.

You think he hasn't attacked anyone else?

Eventually, they'll quit covering up his transgressions.

Sooner or later, he'll flash on someone not a football coach or player...

It's why we :

A - got a bag of dicks in the trade, because

B - no one wanted to give up the farm for someone with 2 years before bailing for the Raiders or the penitentiary.

Raiders gonna Raider. Even before they're Raiders.

It was widely known that former Washington Huskies cornerback Marcus Peters butted heads with coaches prior to his dismissal from the program in November, but an account published Wednesday detailed a much uglier scenario than initially reported.

“Peters was suspended and later dismissed from the Huskies football team after multiple incidents of ‘arguing’ with members of the Huskies coaching staff,” the NFL.com “Sources Tell Us” report stated. “The veteran scout said he witnessed one argument escalate into much more; Peters grabbed the assistant coach by the throat and started choking him, the scout reported.”

http://https://blog.seattlepi.com/seattlesports/2014/12/17/report-former-washington-huskies-cb-marcus-peters-choked-assistant-coach-during-argument/

Maybe they'll call it "elderly abuse" and charge him with a hate crime when he attacks Wade Phillips.

Former Raiders CB Smith released from prison early

Former Oakland Raiders cornerback Sean Smith was released from prison in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning, five months into a one-year sentence for felony assault.

Smith, 31, was sentenced to a year in jail and five years of probation after he pled guilty on March 13 to a felony assault charge stemming from a July 2017 incident in Pasadena, Calif. An aggravated battery charge was dismissed.

Prosecutors said Smith beat and repeatedly stomped on the head of his sister's then-boyfriend during an altercation, causing five facial fractures and requiring reconstructive surgery and the insertion of a metal plate and screws.

Smith, who was released by the Raiders one day before he pleaded guilty, tweeted about his release Tuesday morning, writing, "Finally FREE!!!!!!! So much to say but I'm headed to the gym. I'll catch up wit y'all later"

TMZ reported earlier this month that Smith would be released early as the result of good behavior and overcrowding at the prison.

Smith joined the Raiders on a four-year, $38 million deal in March of 2016, but his two-year tenure in Oakland was up and down. He was benched in his first game before regaining the starting job, and he also was demoted at times last season, finishing with seven starts in 14 games.

In nine NFL seasons with the Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs and Raiders, Smith has 14 interceptions (one returned for a TD) and 96 passes defensed in 137 games (122 starts).
