Alex Smith sucked his rookie season with 1 touchdown and 11 picks.

His game against the Colts 10/09/05 he was picked 4 times and sacked 5 times with 0 interceptions.

Patrick will do good despite playing with mostly backups but even if he struggles he won't be as bad as Alex Smith rookie season. I think he will do GRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAT

Because that would be SO much worse than 2 years of Smith bashing while we win back-to-back division titles for the first time ever.

For your thread convience, I've pre-made a list of responses around poor QB play. Simply reply with the number.

1. Shitty offensive line.
2. Wilson sucks.
3. Received ran the wrong route.
4. Nagy play calling.
5. Lack of reps.
6. Hill/Kelce would have caught that.
7. F***** penalties.

Someone BAN this Alexsexual from the GDT!! ROFL

No need for Alexsexuality in the Mahomes GDT!!! We want to have a GOOD time!!! We have waited a long time for this day...decades. Alexsexuals didn't have to wait for their Alex moment...they just kind of got boners, latched on and followed him around...to a place that generally didn't want him because we were waiting for our "Mahomes today" moment.

Seriously...the Alexsexuals are going to be diarrhea scum in our spiked punch bowl today if they invade the party. They are just ITCHING for Mahomes to perform poorly... they have been noticeably more viscous lately...hell we just had one Alexsexual (RobBlake) threaten to kill another poster this week...coincidence?!? Nope... it's Mahomes week. 2nd death threat made by the "Alexsexual" type of person, btw...that Alexsexual, Sheckelsteinberg, playfully referred to as "Shecky" by the other Alexsexuals, but known as "Douchecky" to me also did it a year or so ago.

Let's not let the Sandy's, RobBlake's, hitchief's, baby that shall go unnamed, temper11's, 13now11's, PAChiefsGuy's, Tiger's, etc. of the planet ruin our good time!!!! I can just see it... Mahomes throws a bullet 95 yards down the field to Demetrius Harris and it hits him right square in the hands and Harris bobbles it while he is running until he reaches the end zone and continues to bobble the football in the end zone and it starts looking like he is playing hacky sack with the football with his hands and then you know, he ultimately drops the fucker... I can just see one of those Alexsexual twat waffles posting, "very stupid decision of Mahomes to throw an accurate, deep pass that hit the receiver square in the hands after traveling 95 yards instead of passing it to his checkdown like exciting QB's in this league are supposed to do." Or Mahomes throws a 98 yard bomb to Demarcus Robinson for a TD...an Alexsexual will respond with, "he's lucky he got away with that...too risky...he had Demetrius Harris open 5 yards from scrimmage." WE DON'T NEED ANY OF THAT SHIT!!!

Mahomes throws a bullet 95 yards down the field to Demetrius Harris and it hits him right square in the hands and Harris bobbles it while he is running until he reaches the end zone and continues to bobble the football in the end zone and it starts looking like he is playing hacky sack with the football with his hands and then you know, he ultimately drops the ****er...

MAHOMES BABY!!!

Someone needs their safe space

Oh come on. You certainly do care. It will be a long off-season if he doesn't have a great game today. Saying otherwise is just a lie. I hope he comes out and tosses those 95 yard TDs.

He shouldn't be expected to tear it up today. He's playing a top notch defense without key playmakers in his first start.

Because that would be SO much worse than 2 years of Smith bashing while we win back-to-back division titles for the first time ever.

Yes it has been. People were bitching we couldn't beat the Broncos in the midst of their elite defensive seasons in the early part of this regime, meanwhile we had bowe as our #1 receiver and all people could do was whine about Smith.

He wouldn't pull the trigger last year but we draft his replacement and all of a sudden he grows a set of balls and lets it rip. Then he goes in a null in November and talk about replacing him so then again he steps up his game. I don't think he would have played near as good if his job wasn't on the line and he had someone nipping at his heals.

Alex Smith has been more of the same mediocre QB the Chiefs have been trotting out there since Martyball became a thing, sand the Montana years.

Which is what many of the early critics of considering him were afraid of.

Some look at the past five years and see a needed stabilization of a franchise. I see five more lost years.

Reid's career win percentage is 60% - so we're at par for the course with 9 wins in 15 games.

Can't fault people for being excited about winning the division after the mid-season struggles then stringing off some important wins especially against the Raiders and Chargers. Both of which were must-win games.

Personally, I'd say being competitive in the very few real tests per season, and winning in mid-late January.

Being thrilled about beating a 9 win team in the playoffs is kind of pathetic (for the franchise, not fans), or winning a home playoff game against anybody because there are players in the NFL who were born the year that last happened.

There's obviously no shame in lower expectations and enjoying whatever you find entertaining.... personally, it would be pretty nice to see them in games that really matter more often than once every 25 years while not wondering how they're going to fuck it up this time.

20 years ago the Patriots were just happy to "make noise" in the playoffs.

Now a season without a a Superbowl win is a failure, and a season without an AFCCG appearance is a crushingly disastrous season

Chief fans will change once their franchise changes. Steelers have numerous Home divisional playoff wins. Chiefs have 0

Just so we’re clear, not winning a championship makes a year lost?

It depends on the season.

This is year 5 and expectations are higher. We’ve won the division before, we’ve won a playoff game before, we’ve made the divisional round.

This isn’t Andy's First year here. I mean he said it himself...”raise the bar as much as you want. We’re up for the challenge.”

It’s time to go to the SB.

Different in the NFL and also different when it's just five more years of the same failed, bullshit approach the franchise has been trying for 40 years.

Why’s the nfl different than other sports though? That seems pretty hypocritical.

Again we’re back to the lense you view it thru I guess.

Hockey boy crying about football again. Shocking...

It's possible that without Alex Smith we never get Mahomes

We won a playoff game (finally!)

We won back to back division titles (first)

We have young stars like Hill, Hunt, Kelce

We have the QBoTF

They did a good job rebuilding this franchise, so far

The majority of Alex haters were completely fine with the acquisition of Alex up until season 3 when he continued to play like a pussy outside of a few games each season.

After so long, it became boring, predictable, and not good enough.

There’s a lot of contradiction here though. Admittedly the chiefs have been the anti clutch franchise for 25 years. So now that they’re actually showing some signs of turning that around with their play and their decisions, we aren’t supposed to be excited?

I didn't say that, and I mentioned it's pathetic for the franchise, not the fans... and I also said there's no shame in having lower expectations.

Chiefs have been a #1 seed & blown it...a #2 seed & blown it...a #3 seed & blown it...this year they are a #4 seed & history says they'll blow it.

You need to be dynamic in the playoffs & they've never a QB to do that. Mahomes actually has the potential to do it.

Hard cap. Completely even revenue sharing. It's the most balanced league around. So yes, my expectations are different for the Chiefs than for Mizzou or the Royals, because those teams aren't working from a completely even deck like the Chiefs are.

There's also the matter of the Chiefs spending 30 years trying to same tired, failed approach at QB, and never deviating from it until this past spring. In light of the past 25 years, it's hard to get excited about a division title and being sent home before the conference championship game, which is your general lot in the NFL, even if you make the playoffs, unless you're daring to be great at QB.

I guess some people would probably be thankful if they were sent to Purgatory for a stint and should thank whoever responsible for sending them there... I mean, it beats hell, I guess?

A brief flash of that elite-capable play popped up here and there, but never came to stay. Maybe he'll go on one of those "hot" streaks in the playoffs this year, but there's dozens of games and more than a half decade of past performance that suggest he won't.

Or, you can go to watch parties, hang out with friends, watch casually, and have no expectation for a win, and no heartburn when it's an L.

Those are the games where Alex plays it safe. Playing safe in the playoffs makes you lose.

It's a shitty fucking attitude to have as a QB, and pretty awful to watch as a fan. It's the kind of attitude that says, "I did what I had to do to win the game, and we did. On to next week! Woo hoo!"

And that's bullshit. That's how you lose to Pittsburgh without allowing the Steelers a single TD.

Besides, other parts of the team are never fully responsible are they? QB's have lost every single playoff game all by themselves. Four TD lead lost? QB's fault. RB fumbles, or gets hurt? QB's fault.

Yep

I’m as ready for Mahomes as the next guy, but Alex hasn’t been near what some here out him at. He’s been good not great, great at times and bad at times. Basically what he was billed as. It sucks that it took this year for him to let loose but a lot of that is the players around him.

All of this.

Should keep it balanced though. There was plenty of hate and opposition of Smith in every GDT for every game this year.

Including you, no? I've seen you spew profanity laced posts at him in the GDT.

And this is where the other side looses me

Sure, some guys were hurt. That’s the nfl.

At some point, alex needed to carry them a little. I realize he’s not that guy and can’t, but that’s also why they’re moving on.

Alex is dependent on the guys around him. It is what it is. I appreciate what he’s brought here, but I don’t think it’s wrong to be dissatisfied with the playoff result, which some put on the qb.

Per usual, it’s not black and white

Also this. Although I would say both sides are dissatisfied with losing in the playoffs. The difference is that one side thinks it isn't gonna change without a QB switch and another side disagrees. Then there are those in the middle.

I agree. I can't imagine many fans will be satisfied with not getting passed the divisional round if that happens.

Yeah and the truth of it is it’s all of it.

You aren’t winning a sb with the qb carrying the entire team and you aren’t winning with him sucking.

They need the whole team to play well in January. No more injuries or the defense sucking in New England or the offense no showing or the qb missing open guys

Yep. Brady isn't winning a SB with the Browns. You need your QB to step up in the playoffs and be one of your best players more often than not. AFC representative shows it every year. Ravens don't win the SB if Flacco doesn't play the best stretch of his life, even as good as they were(and the most hilarious comeback against Denver).

Things are never as black and white as people want it to be. Politics, football....life. It is easier to think when it's black and white though.

Who is playing at RB for the Chiefs today with West out (and assuming that Hunt won't play either)?

Akeem Hunt and who else?

My guess is DAT, with K Hunt getting just enough carries to take the rushing title

Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion! Let's not bicker and argue about who trolled who ... We are here today to witness the union of Alexians and Mahomos in the joyful bond of the holy Patlock.

Unfortunately, one of them, my troll Tiger, has just fallen to his death.

But I don't want to think I've not lost a troll... so much as gained a QB...

For, since the tragic death of the starter...

SHOUT FROM BACK: He's not quite dead!

Since the fatal wounding of the starter...

SHOUT FROM BACK: I think he's getting better!

For ... since the starter ... who ... when he seemed about to recover ... suddenly felt the icy ... hand of death upon him.

SHOUT FROM BACK: Oh, he's died!

I want his true fans, from now onwards, to think of the Browns as their team ... in a very real and legally binding sense.

Or get 10 carries for 15 yards and get hurt. Nobody cares about rushing titles. I doubt anyone can remember who won it last year without Googling it.
