Reid will do the exact same thing with Mahomes. Bank it.

Maybe another post-season loss or two and Hunt will realize Reid is simply Schottenheimer Part Two.

I am with you on this one....I think Reid needs to go too.

While he has had success in the regular season, Andy is too conservative and quite frankly I think football has passed him by just like it did Schottenheimer.

And I am now concerned that Andy has too much of an attachment to Alex Smith that he won't trade him when he has the greatest value to the improvement of the Chiefs.

01-06-2018, 07:09 PM
Rodney Harrison just said Reid is not the coach to lead them to the SB. He’s right. Andy has had plenty of chances. It’s time for your front office to get blown up. Hunt needs to clean house ASAP and hire a new staff to prepare for the draft.

Eleazar

Reid is an upmarket Marty. Will never win a Super Bowl.

Even the success he's still trading on, with the Eagles > 15 years ago, he couldn't win it, and that team was absolutely loaded.

Reid isn't good enough.

Who the **** didn't see this outcome before the season started?

You are going to quit now? When the team is about to start the first QB they have drafted to win a game since 1987?

Mahomes is not Smith. He's a gunslinger. I will be very shocked to see him lead a 2nd half like Smith just displayed. He'll want to make plays while Smith is perfectly satisfied with being a yes man and doing whatever the coach says, he has no killer instinct.

Maybe it's just me but I'm just now getting excited about Chiefs football again. I'm not even mad about this loss. I've completely lost interest in the team the last few years because only a blind fucking homer or someone hanging from the undescended testicles of Alex Smith knew how the season was going to end.

We are now headed into the unknown. It's time to get pumped.

I've been done with the Chiefs for the past two seasons, haven't watched a game or spent a dime on them in the past two years, and didn't watch a game until the final game vs Denver and this playoff disaster.

Mahomes is FINALLY a step in the fight direction, but it is about 20 years too late for most. The drafting of a first round QB should have been done a long fucking time ago, and the Chiefs need to stop with the cuck choke artist band-aid QBs that they always seem to bring in instead of trying to develop a true stud at QB.

I won't watch a game next year either if the Chiefs retain AS.

It's about more than Mahomes. You shouldn't need Mahomes to win a home playoff game up 18 points on a mediocre opponent. Hell, you shouldn't need him to win up 28 on the road.

It's not like I expected a Super Bowl run this year. Hell, going into this game I thought we had a good chance of losing. But it's not just about losing. It's HOW they lose. Time and again.

And already I see, "Next year will be different!" The fuck it will.

The beautiful thing about having Mahomes is we have time on our side to build a dominant and balanced team that can knock down that door. We have a lot of work to do but I think the offense is pretty set and this defense can get retooled and guys will learn. Next year is going be fun with out a lot of expectations but to watch them grow as a team. I think the guys are going see that they can win with Mahomes so it's going be easier getting players want to come here to play.

An outcome like that will definitely make you question the existence of a benevolent God, but the Chiefs were always a mediocre team. They beat some really good teams and lost to some awful ones. Like I said, it's not that they lost, it's HOW they lost. Losing to New England a couple of years ago didn't hurt me. I understand, I really do. But when you turtle up, this can happen. The Chiefs have a very, very hard time putting together two halves of good offensive football because they rely on misdirection and horizontal illusion to move the ball. Once the DC has time to look at it, the adjustments can be made, especially without a guy like Kelce, who is a matchup nightmare. You can double Hill; you can double Kelce. It's harder to double Hill and Kelce.

Minutiae doesn't concern me anymore. Guys like Alex Smith don't win Super Bowls. We knew that going in, but some people chose to lie to themselves for god knows what reason.

If they didn't lose today they would have lost next week anyway.

We got the best result because it will force their hand.

Me and you are totally sympatico. The IS the best outcome. See you in training camp you'll be missed.

My opinion means nothing but Andy Reid and his conservative bullshit isn’t gonna chance with a gunslinger qb. Alex Smith absolutely shredded the Titans and then Andy got scared. Pathetic. Best of Luck to Mahomes. Gonna be a lot of fun watching him to Hill and Kelce. I just have no faith in Andy Reid.

That's why you need to get them in your favor. Only way to do that is to hope Mahomes becomes a star.

As long as the Chiefs are that 'boring' team with Alex Smith quarterbacking them, they will continue to not get the benefit of the calls in this sport.

Referees have probably always been shitty compared to what they need to be, and the increase in broadcast resolution and speed of play in all sports has made us more acutely aware of it. Some sports, like baseball, have really easy solutions. I'm not sure what football and basketball can really do, aside from introducing limited challenges on fouls/penalties. At this point, it is obviously not good enough.

Nope. Something would happen. He'd get concussed in the first quarter. Reid would call 35 screen passes. The Chiefs would get flagged for 12 holding calls. If Mahomes threw for 500 yards and 6 TDs, the other QB would throw for 550 and 7.

Look guys, I've been watching the NFL since I was 5 or 6 years old. When a guy blitzes the QB and rocks his world and he fumbles, in a bang bang play, it's a fumble. Always has been. There was no tuck rule, no nothing. It was a fumble. Yet it's called forward progress , the titans get a Feirld goal, and the rest is history. If that's not enough to see its bs, then I don't know what is. Not to mention the two ot conversion fumble which was just as bad. I'm done with the NFL. It's no wonder the fans are leaving in mass.

I haven't been upset at a Chiefs loss since the Indy debacle. As a guy who follows the Vegas spreads religiously that was my final straw and turning point that there is some very shady shit going on in the NFL.These days I watch for pure entertainment and trying to win some cash at fantasy football. No more feeling like I got gut punched and being depressed for days after a big loss and it feels ****ing great.

This team draws you in every single, mother fucking goddamn year.

You see glimpses of what could be and shades of what might happen in the playoffs during the regular season. You tell yourself "No, not this time. I know better.". But then, they do a little bit more to try and sway your opinion. Eventually, you give in and convince yourself that it's different this time and that maybe....JUST MAYBE, it's OUR time.

...and then, when the moment is right and everyone is back on board and you think 53 red-clad individuals are ready to push the Chiefs to prosperity....

Yeah, that's the thing. No one had any doubt that it was going to happen, especially when the quarterback scored a touchdown off a batted pass. At that moment, I think we all knew how it was going to end. And that's really sad.

The weird thing to me is that none of these players were born on the Christmas Day game. Most of these players were in kindergarten when the 1995 game happened. They were in high school when the no-punt game happened. There shouldn't be any reason to have a constant pattern of this kind of thing over the course of decades. So what is it? What's the problem? Are we as fans psyching out our players by putting this long history on their backs? Should we, or can we, just pretend to be an expansion team in the Mahomes era and clean the slate?

Understood though, probably the worst team they've drawn at home in the playoffs since the '95 Colts. Mariota was awful... Smith was great in the first half, so of course Reid had to fuck that up in the 2nd half.... they're playing a team stupid enough to go for two when you obviously kick the extra point with 14 minutes left. Figured it would be like the Texans game a couple years ago, before moving on and losing in the 2nd round.

This is it in a nutshell. I said something similar in a pregame thread: I can't relax until the clock reads zero, and even then you wait a moment or two to see if New York calls in to say "Wait a minute."

I've completely lost interest in the team the last few years because only a blind ****ing homer or someone hanging from the undescended testicles of Alex Smith knew how the season was going to end.

I am not going to say I won't be back, I would be foolish to say that. I've watched this team for this long and the masochist in me won't let go.

But I did do something I've never done before last night......I went out to the garage and got an empty plastic storage carton. I took every piece of Chief's items I have and put the in the carton, taped it shut and marked on it "save for when hell freezes over". (My wife didn't appreciate my sense of humor).

I took the tote and put it in the attic with all the other items that have no use but to drudge up memories.

Why would the NFL rig the outcome of the Chiefs/Titans game? Why would the league want the Titans to win? Why wouldn't they fix the Rams/Falcons game?

The Chiefs lost because...

1. The Chiefs don't know how to tackle

Man you just knew how this one was going to end it’s amazing how we have had basically the same team forever. They do the same shit over and over and over again. Blow leads, lose almost every close game, get the wrong call at the worst time. Rinse repeat. I didn’t expect the Chiefs to go anywhere in the postseason this year but what sucks the most is how predictably awful this team loses.

I am taking comfort in the fact that Mahomes is the future but I also think that Andy might keep Alex around for another year. I could just see him do it just like we all could see that the Chiefs were going to find a way to lose yet again.

I don’t think it’s fixed.

However, giving the Cheatriots an easier opponent - since the chiefs already beat them - makes a lot of sense when you look at the calls.

I don’t believe it is fixed. The NFL didn’t find a way for Mariota to catch some ridiculous batted ball for 7 points or lose yardage 3 different times after getting a gift in FG range. That’s Chiefs. I do however think narrative drives a lot of calls. Maybe not in this one. Maybe Triplett is just that bad of a ref. I don’t know. But after the motherfuckers told Cam that he hasn’t earned the call it’s pretty hard to believe otherwise.
