View Full Version : Chiefs Does Andy fire Sutton?

Defense only gave up 22 points, first time giving up 21 points or more at home since week one of last season and we played better towards the end of the season...But I'm ready for a change. It's time for a change and it's the perfect time with the new era on offense upon us.

Will Andy pull the trigger though?

D is frustrating. Not bad. And it was Barryless.

I still want a new one but he did nothing to get fired.

Either Clark will have to intervene or Sutton decides to retire. Andy won’t fire him.

Not bad? It's bottom 5 defense. The Titans coming in were terrible on 3rd down, but not today... His defenses have blown TWO of the 4 second half 18-point-leads in playoff history...and then there was that that 3rd and 10 play with 1:50 to go... He has done plenty to get fired.

I would be surprised if he is back. Retirement as 88 said or even let go. I think reid will feel forced to do something.

Giving up 7/7 3rd down conversions in the second half to a Tennessee offense that entered the game ranked 25th in 3rd down conversion % is “not bad” in your view?

He is the coordinator of a defense that has blown 2, 18+pt leads in playoff games. No other DC has that problem. He did plenty to get fired.

Reid has shown throughout his career that he will not fire a coordinator. He is no different than Vermeil in that area. He will have to be forced or he will stay with Sutton. Everything will stay status quo unless someone is hired away.

Beta types don't fire people. They sweep shit under a rug. Pretend it isn't a problem and move on.

Somebody's head has to roll for this season's failures. Sutton is the logical choice.

Defense gave up 19 points in one half in the playoffs to the Titans. A choke. That's not acceptable.

Fuck Sutton trying to defend the run with his nickel and dime packages. Hasn't worked all year. I hope Sutton takes Reid out when he is fired. Double homicide.

Sutton should have been fired 3 season ago but he was bailed out by Marcus Peters and others with turnovers.

No they need to rebuild the D-line everyone sans Jones isn't worth a fuck. They were getting whipped as soon as he went out.

Seriously, how do you bring Sutton back? After Indy, after this? After NE? After Pitt? In each game the defense was manhandled, whatever the final score may have been. Over the top defense ineptitude -- either Sutton has to go, or Dorsey was a joke.

Reid has fires his DC before. I don’t think it’s a vermeil situation where he refused to fire his DC this off season. Clearly he’s been a huge problem.

Dosent matter if we don't improve the Dline, LBs and Secondary depth.

Yes. Because it will take the focus away from his shortcomings.

Easy - call a bubble screen on 3rd and 9. Hold the ball for like 8 minutes in the 2nd half...hang the defense out to dry...Andy is as Andy does.

This loss is squarely on Reid, Smith, and the Offensive line. The defense shouldn't have been out there nearly that long...

Andy should fire himself. Sutton was the better coach yesterday.

Andy "Stupid Bubble Screen thrown at the sidelines" Reid is to blame. 100%.

Oh, only the ones that didn't watch the game yesterday, got it.

Agreed.

Should he?

It's a debate worth having.

I'll have to admit that I want to keep the 3-4 and I'm not real excited about the options available at the moment...

I was watching Louis Riddick last night on ESPN and he said the Chiefs were concerned about this game because they knew their D sucks at stopping the run and that they have band-aided the D all year through great coaching. He also said fixing the D personnel will be a major priority in the off-season.

So it sounds like they are going to blame lack of talent instead of coaching so I expect Sutton to stick around unfortunately.

Could possibly be some truth to that, perhaps Sutton just had nobody to make "adjustments" with, on the roster????
