So that's kind of a downer for the Titans, no?

I thought that was the reason they were moving on from Mularkey. Maybe they'll hire Bob Sutton. Do they have a Rooney Rule for old, demented, wash-ups?

Given Luck's health, wonder if the Colts draft a QB anyway and dangle as trade bait if Luck doesn't work out. Much as I wish it weren't the case, because I hate Indy... think Rosen would clash with a lot of teams, but McDaniels seems like the right kind of asshole to keep another asshole in line.

Hiring DeGuglielmo as OLine coach is interesting. We won the SB in '14 with him as the OLine coach, but the line regressed badly in 2015, and so BB fired him and Pats got Scar back. I guess Josh didn't think nearly as badly of him as BB did.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2018/02/06/mcdaniels-decided-to-stay-put-with-no-promises-or-commitments-from-patriots/

So why did Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels decide to remain with the Patriots? It’s not because head coach Bill Belichick is retiring (he isn’t), and it’s not because the Patriots have promised to make McDaniels the successor to Belichick whenever he walks away (they haven’t).

Ultimately, McDaniels simply decided to stay put.

Some will say that McDaniels had concerns about the health of quarterback Andrew Luck. The more accurate reality is that McDaniels had concerns about working with owner Jim Irsay.

PFT had heard in recent days that McDaniels did indeed have those concerns, but that efforts were made to persuade McDaniels to make the leap of faith. He did so reluctantly, and then he didn’t. And now, as one source put it to PFT, there will be a “major storm of sh-t” over this one.

Maybe Dave Taub gets his chance to be a HC in Indy now.

Holy shit!

Kraft better back up the brinks truck then because McDaniels pretty much just burned all his bridges outside the Pats org.

This guy from the Indy forum is great:

Feels like the colts asked the popular girl to the prom, she said yes and stood us up. We all know how this story ends...the colts go on to make all the right moves and create a dynasty, while the popular girl goes on to flunk out out of community college, promptly put on 85lbs and spend her days daydreaming about what could have been, as she shoves another spoonful of funfetti icing into her mouth..

McDaniels just cost himself a HC job anywhere outside of New England.

But fuck the Colts and Pats.

So far, 2 guys.

If they signed their contracts, Irsay has to honor them, regardless of whether or not they end up working for the Colts.

Actually 3 but regardless it is a dick move to not call them especially since he is the one that helped pick them and convinced them to come to Indy. I would think Irsay could release them from their contracts if they wanted it.

I'll catch flak for this but Jeff Fisher would be a good hire for Indy IMO an it wouldn't surprise me if it happens. Everything Fisher brings are all the areas Indy has been horrific at for years. Soft finesse team, poor defense, no toughness & no physicality. Don't ask Fisher to run an offense but he can build a tough team and a tough D. The QB is already in place so offense won't be an issue. Irsay and former GM Polian have a ton of respect for him.

Pats are dirty all the time. In some way they are always doing something to screw somebody over. That's why when Brady was asked if he's a cheater he said "I don't think so.". That's means others may have a reason think he is if they knew what the team does to win .

I wouldn't be excited by a Schwartz hire but can't imagine a reason why any team would hire fisher over him.

Mcdaniels not only earns the honor of being a grade a piece of shit. He will now forever be remembered as the assistant coach who ****ed every future super bowl coach over. Why would a team wait for an assistant coach if there's a chance any of them would have the dickhead tendency in them to pull a stunt like this

He didn’t do well in Denver and he hasn’t done well in Indy.

What QB are the Colts going to draft 3rd overall?
