Does this mean Alex's QB coach is/or soon to be unemployed?

It's a good move but the Chiefs need to backfill Childress with an experienced passing game coordinator. Having g a 30 yo first time qbs coach as the only assistant to mentor mahomes and advise on the passing game is not my favorite thing to do.

I remember when this SOB carved up Iowa in college. He went to Northwestern, so you know, he must be smart.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Andy had Kafka tied to Mahomes' hip all season. He probably had a good idea that Nagy was bailing and wanted Patrick to be close to a coach who was for certain going to be around for awhile.

Anybody who doubts this hire should remember that some also doubted Andy’s decision to stick with Alex, and look how that turned out!

IMO Brad Childress was in KC to find a QB to draft. "Spread game analyst" for me always meant "watching spread QBs in college to find one who will translate to the pros." He did his job. He bridged the gap between Mahomes from Tech and Mahomes in the pros. Mahomes is going to take over now, Childress' job is done.

It doesn't matter who is QBs coach and who is OC. Andy Reid handpicked his star QB, and he will be the one working with him.

Frankly, I don't care if Andy calls plays or not, provided that the only one actually communicating with Mahomes is the one calling plays. This dumbfuck game of telephone where Andy calls them, then the OC relays them, then Mahomes relays again is detrimental to the offense. There's no time for pre-snap reads because the whole play clock is spent just getting the verbiage out.

I think Andy's #1 goal in the NFL is to have the largest and most successful coaching tree. I think it supersedes winning championships for him.

When you ain't smart enough to win one, you have to hang your hat on something

Brainiac Northwestern grad and former pro QB under Reid who already spent 2017 with the kid... sure cant see anything wrong with this move

The next Doug Pederson!

I predict another heartbreaking home playoff loss to Kafka and the Chargers in 2021

They better not let this one go like they did Pederson and Nagy if Kafka ends up being groomed just as good. Like eventually give the reigns over to one of these guys.

Fun fact: Kafka was taken in the same draft as Eric Berry.

I have noticed that a lot of players are smart and can't do it themselves, but are natuaral teachers and can teach it. Can't do it but can teach it.

THIS^

A big part of the reason the offense looked so much better with Nagy calling plays was simply because getting the play to the QB was more efficient, time wise.
