View Full Version : Food and Drink The fortune cookie that will change my life.

I ordered Chinese food today. I love Chinese food, or at least the American version of Chinese food that's nonetheless made by Chinese people who no doubt feel very conflicted and hypocritical about their role in faking their own cuisine.

But back to the topic. I had my usual, and this time I also tried some baked mussel appetizers that my wife and I both agreed were quite tasty. And at the end, in the bottom of the grocery sack, we found our two fortune cookies. We split them up and opened them. And mine said...

Are you ready for this? Because it might change your life, too.

Mine said...

"Fate loves the fearless."

Yes. YES! Fate does indeed love the fearless.

That fortune grabbed me by the scruff off the neck and shook me around like I was a golden retriever's chew toy.

I'm too comfortable. I take things too easy. I need to get out, stretch myself, try some new things. And by golly, I'm going to do it. I'm going to try new foods, listen to new music. I'm going to travel more, and maybe hop a tramp freighter to China. I'm going to do it.

That fortune cookie was no accident.

Made Chinese a couple of weeks ago and I always buy a bag of fortune cookies to go along with that meal.

This time every single cookie in the bag had the fortune "If you think you can, you will".

Seemed a little fishy to me, almost like fortune cookies aren't real.

while laying back a long time watching a portion of his army get obliterated before finally responding. At the same time refusing to use Winchester repeaters going with the single shot Springfield carbine rifles instead while many of the Sioux had the Winchester repeaters outnumbering the 7th many times over to boot. Go figure.

Custer's ego and his cowardice got them all killed for sure. But that's a whole another discussion.;)

Heh, yeah I was just joking about his exhortation to the troops

I own the definitive book on Little Bighorn called 'Son of the Morning Star', even got to visit that site as a boy of 8-9... even at that young age, I could feel the weight of that place

Oh I know, but it brought up the whole history thing and I love American History.

How Cool. Have yet to read that definitive book but saw a real fascinating documentary on the History Channel before they went all "american pickers" where they did actual archeology on the site and actually dug up puddles of spent carbine cartridges actually showing the placement of the troops. Maybe you saw it as well?

I've seriously thought about making a fortune cookie company full of negative, funny, and goofy fortunes. The existing ones are too boring and not direct enough.
