Corey Matthaei moved from assistant quarterbacks coach to assistant offensive line coach
Joe Bleymaier was promoted from offensive quality control to pass game analyst/assistant quarterbacks coach

The Chiefs also hired two new coaches:

A lot of promotions from within for a coaching staff that was a part of a historic home playoff collapse.

Commitment to mediocrity.

Did we hire an OLB coach who is better at teaching coverage technique? Any DB coaches teaching the proper way to give a 20 yard cushion?

With how poorly our players graded out either they're using a Cassel grading system in house, or they really think the players suck.

Thank God Britt Reid is still the D Line coach!

Listened to Deleone at a clinic last February. If you saw the guy on the street you would never guess he was an NFL coach. Looks like the schlubby guy on every sitcom. That said, he knew his shit. I was impressed. Watched him on the field during pregame, and seemed to have a great rapport with that group and brought good energy.

Once met Britt in a shooting gallery. Looked like and was the schlub from every sitcom. Knew his stuff. Found veins I never knew existed .

Defensive line play lacked energy and only Jones had much impact at all. If the positional coach wasn't related to the head coach he would be gone.

Triplett retired. He was the cause of the collapse. Get it Right!

I don't know how good a coach Britt Reid is or who's fault it is. But I can't imagine many DLs would have success with a unit that refuses to stunt and that asks their DL to rush the passer for 10 seconds. Until our scheme changes we are sending these guys into slaughter.

Gary Gibbs (nee Glitter) was the one thing holding us back from success. Mark this down, come back here in 365 days.

Sutton was great in Christmas Vacation, he's been going down hill ever since.

That's because Dorsey overpaid for a shitty Bennie Logan, Allen Bailey was hurt, as usual, and the rest of the D lineman are JAG's.

Chris Jones?

He mentioned Jones in his quote so I didn't mention him.

Jones, if healthy, if a Game-Changer.

Hopefully, he's healthy in 2018...

What's with all the defensive moves? How hard is it to coach a Sutton defense?

Drop everyone so deep the middle of the field is always wide open.....
Rush 3....

Seems any high school coach would suffice. In fact, we could have like a weekly lottery where a lucky, local HS coach gets to call the defense each week.

I don't know how much of it is Sutton's fault, honestly. If you can't cover anybody and you can't rush the passer-I mean what do you do? You can scheme all you want, but if your guys fucking suck, they fucking suck.

Anyone with "quality control" as part of their title. That is Reid code for "chow runner." You can never have enough.

He's a play changer. He can ruin plays.

A game changer, in my book, can't take plays off like Jones does.

Kinda like DJ was early in his career. All the potential to be an all-pro player, but he hasn't put it together. Yet.

While this may be true, these coaches are paid to make adjustments and work with what they have. Make chicken salad out of chicken shit as it were. Sutton does not adjust well, he stubbornly thinks everything will just work out by the end of the game...

...and what the hell is a quality control coach?? Seriously, what do they do? Besides run to Gates...

QC Coach is basically the guy who does the shit jobs. Typically breaking down film in whatever manner the staff wants, in college they make play cards (not sure how that is handled at the pro level). Run the scout team, self-scout etc.

The answer to both of those problems is to not have the guy who's best at rushing the passer in coverage on over 1/3 of the plays.

LOL
I just saw that I posted this last year.
Yesterday I made a post about how unimpressed I was with him when I saw him. Funny how opinions change.
Was it wishful thinking (homer) last year? Or do the results this year make me think less of what I saw.

Either way... funny...
