Hell of a career for a fat kicker.

Great kicker, stats would have been much better if he wasn't always having to kick bombs because of the bad teams we had...

We Raider fans expected it

I thought that he was already gone. Didn't they have a different kicker last season?

I thoroughly made fun of this draft pick. Number 17 overall if I remember correctly. Turns out it was one of old Al Davis' best picks.

Didn't Greasy Al give up a ton of picks to get him too?

I think it was their natural pick.

Bring him in for a look at ILB.

I had to go back and look at the 2000 draft. Looking back, Janikowski was about as good as any at that point in the draft. Nobody picked after him had as good of a career as he did. Funny piece of trivia that I noticed. A kicker was drafted before the first quarertback came off the board. Janikowski was drafted at 17, followed by Chad Pennington at 18. Hard to think that a quarterback class would be bad enough that a team would choose a kicker first.

Pretty sure Gruden was in charge when they drafted him. I remember being jealous when they took him so early, hoping the Chiefs would. I didn't have a lot of company thinking that.

Actually, his stats would probably be worse if they were a better team. Knowing most of the time the offense was never moving the ball, they let him kick from nearly everywhere. If your kicker leads the team in points........youre sucking big time.

I would be interested in which team the kicker isn’t the leading scorer.

One could argue that Shane Lechler was just as valuable later in that same draft.

I take it you are describing "Kick with Nick" from our 80's Chiefs teams?:D

Yep and definitely not a Gruden pick. This was all Al Davis for sure.

Can you imagine if a team drafted a kicker in the first today? Fans would flip lol

He had a pretty decent career though

55 fg's over 50 yards which is an NFL record
