But he is also going to pitch for the Twins, and that's the guaranteed part...;)

Seriously, it was going to happen one day in the NFL. That day is here.

Since it's 3 years full guaranteed.....I'd draft one in 2019 and let him sit for Cousin's last year.

yep.

I'd draft one every other year minimum until I hit on one. because if/when I hit...I'm going to pay out the ass after his rookie deal to keep him (and you need to if he's the guy). none of this keeping Bray for 15 years bullshit.

in the mean time, if you have a QB that looks very promising, you load up everywhere else while he's cheap and hope you can get a SB run done within that window.

It's not like he's great, but he was the best option out there, and credit the Vikings for making the aggressive move. They were almost there with Keenum, they have to be 1-2 with the Eagles now that they have upgraded their biggest weakness.

of all the teams that were in play for cousins I always took the viking's rumors as bullshit they had a bullshit.

They had/have Bridgewater/Bradford/keenum a bunch of good to decent QB's

The same team that basically built the Dallas Cowboys of the 90's via the Herschel Walker trade.

On one hand, it really seems like the Vikings are ****ing themselves guaranteeing so much money to a glorified game manager with a truly terrible record against winning teams

On the other, that defense is good enough to carry him through many close contests... run the shit out of the ball, play great defense, and Cousins will probably be ok for them, better than anyone they've had in while at least

They're the best fit for him

The guy threw for 4900 25 and 12 then followed it up with 4100 27 and 13.

Only like 6 guys have ever thrown for 5k. IIRC

He's not a game manager. He just hasn't been able to win big games yet

Dont care about the stats, his record against better teams is what it is

I didnt say dude sucks

But there is something missing to my eye, as well as the record... he is basically Tony Romo IMO

I will actually retract the 'game manager' label, the guy is more than willing to take every shot he sees... but he just isnt good enough to pull it off often times

Cousins is Alex Smith but will stay in the pocket and go deep who isn't as athletic as AS but essentially the same kind of QB who will not take you to a SB on his back but to your point if all the pieces are in place could very well do so.

KC still has not won anything big and yes the Vikings are taking a big chance in this GC thing.

Would only disagree so far as that he is Alex Smith, I earlier gave him the game manager tag then took it back... precisely because he usually is NOT a game manager, yet could maybe use a bit more of that

Its hard to define, but its like he has a second tier arm with a first tier mentality

Dude is a fiery, risk taking player... who should probably tone himself down a bit

Anyway meh, what the CHIEFS are doing is too exciting to get too wrapped up in this sideshow :D

That’s a weird situation. IIRC, there was a season where like three QBs threw for over 5,000 yards. Since then we’ve had several seasons where not even one guy eclipsed the mark.

I think it's really interesting that teams are throwing around lots of short-term deals with more guaranteed money. Not a bad idea for either side. The team can get rid of a stopgap quickly. The player gets to pocket the same amount of money in 2-3 years that they would probably make in twice that amount of time. All while playing in "prove it" mode where they can make even more money the next contract. I mean, Case Keenum is going to make $18M per year. Chew on that. Cousins, Bortles, Keenum, Watkins... all probably could have taken longer term deals with more years virtually guaranteed.
