The #Chiefs are signing RB Damien Williams, per agent @iangreengross. He gets 1-year for $1.5M. He’s coming off shoulder surgery and will miss most of the offseason. Should be available for training camp, the team hopes.

Say good bye to Charcandrick West don't want to pay a 3rd RB 2 mill.

It'll be this guy and probably a draft pick/UDFA competing for that last spot.

Guessing thats not good for West. Can't imagine they'd bring in an injury guy to replace or for insurance of Ware if he's hurt too.

He’s only half a mil cheaper than West, I’m a West fan because of his blocking and receiving. Maybe there is more to his injuries than have been let on.

Not a fan of signing free agent RB's... you can find quality RB depth in the later rounds of the draft (as the Chiefs should know... see Kareem Hunt).

Looks like Mr. Veech is thoroughly picking threw the Free Agents whose last names start with W. Watkins, Williams, Williams, Watson, Wright.

Here is the player profile on this guy.
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/9570/damien-williams

Nothing stands out about him that I can see, plus he is hurt. Not sure why we would drop 1.5 million on him, when a guy off the streets would have been just as good a placeholder?

And if a late round pick/UDFA is better he'll get cut.

This is about not being forced to draft one or keeping West around who has a bigger contract.

It's probably a deal that maxes at 1.5 mil if he hits certain points. Doubt it's more than vet min guaranteed.

Exactly.

He appears to be a slight upgrade over West in terms of numbers.

If worse comes to worst, he learns Reid's system and can be signed on the fly like Spiller in 2017.

If he's better and more durable than West, it's a nice signing.

Probably don't want to have Ware see a lot of time early on while also not overworking Hunt.

There's a somewhat realistic chance here that Reid leans on a the run a bit more with a young QB.

Signing a guy like Williams means that they don’t have to spend a 4th rounder in the draft this year.

Also, you’re seriously discounting the fact that a UDFA running back would not only need to learn Reid’s deep playbook but would need to excel in Pass Pro, too, which is highly unlikely for a late pick or UDFA.

A PCL tear is way more serious than an ACL tear and as I’ve said since last year, it’s a stretch to believe he’ll be 100% by late July.

I don’t understand why people on CP believe it only takes 9 months to recover from serious ligament tears.

9-12 months, minimum for a Grade IV PCL tear, which includes the LCL.

Also, he tore it late August, so unless he’s a complete freak of nature (or juicing), he won’t be 100% by the start of the season.
