He was good in 2016 and very good at the start of last season, before the leg injury.

Kennedy pitched very good Saturday night.

He had good results. Maybe his stuff was better I haven’t looked at spin rates or any of that stuff, but he still had multiple belt high fastballs down the middle of the plate when I was watching. He also threw 105 pitches in 6 innings. He’d be fine as a 5th guy as he occaisionally brings it, but as a #2 guy we are in a lot of trouble. Of course if Junis continues to improve over last year we have a few bright spots to watch.

If I’m reading fangraphs correctly Kennedy gave up a line drive on 41.7% of his four seam fastballs.

If Kennedy is your 5th starter you are loaded. He is a solid 3. Which is what they signed him for.

If he is your 5th starter you should make the playoffs. If he is your number 3 you hope to win more than 70 games.
