Never mind.....Vermeil had a powerhouse offense.
Reid has a dog house offense.

Robinsons d may have been better.

Agree…..watching that game was "enlightening" to say the least. I never expect much from the Defense (and won't as long as Sutton is there) but this is ridiculous…..

Dave Adolph - here we go again….

Yes I used to referee Special Olympics games - much like those - Only they were penalized less.

I think Vermeil is a better offensive coach than Reid.

I haven't see anything special from Reid. He's been around for 25 years and plenty of experience. That doesn't mean he's great.

Honestly, he can put clown shoes on Billichick, then turn around and get punked by Jack Del Rio and Mike Mularkey.

The team reflects his inconsistency to a T.

If Reid had willie Roaf we'd be unstoppable. If you'll remember what happened the day Roaf retired. Our offense went to shit and Trent Green got brain damage from getting his head slammed to the turf.

ya kind of, it won't be as good without 3 hall of famers on the offense, but there is a resemblance for sure. The defense won't be as bad as that defense either, that was just a complete train wreck.

And a huge difference with 3 HOFers on that line. I don't care how many playmakers you have on offense, if the o-line can't pull their big boy pants on by themselves at this point it will be sadly pathetic to watch all the offensive playmaking talent go to waste while you hope and pray PM2 does not develop happy feet let alone get hurt.:shake:

This has all the makings for a 2001 Vermeil team type of season. Offense that has flashes but will be inconsistent. Defense that will be an on-field abortion. I mean, who really knows but 6-10 wouldn't surprise me in the least.

The thing is that I think Vermeil and Saunders were far superior offensive coaches. They had a really good feel for how to call a game. The balance was always there. If we played a really aggressive defense, you'd see 13 screens to Holmes. If we played cover 2, TG would have a field day. If the defensive line was big and bulky, we'd run sweeps to the edges. If they were small but fast, we'd run right up the gut. A lot of it was because the offensive line could do whatever they wanted, but I always felt like those offenses were so unpredictable. And not in a gimmicky, tricky kind of way.

I've never particularly cared for the Reid offenses. While statistically they look nice, he, in my opinion, is not great at calling a game. He has his moments but he doesn't have a good feel for any kind of offensive balance. We always seem to have a decent running game yet he runs precious little play action. His QBs are hardly ever under center. Bubble screens that work maybe 5% of the time. 1st and goal from the 3, run four straight passing plays. Everything feels like trickery to me. Like running the swinging gate immediately followed by the statue of liberty, then a bubble screen on 3rd and 12.

I think this is going to be a tough year. New QB with no real experience. Shaky offensive line. Terrible defense.

I'll be happy with 8-8.

Not, DV had Sanders and the ramped up Air Coyell. No Sanders and DV is not a great offensive coach.

Deja vu .....Vermeil and Robinson years

Robinson's defenses failed everywhere. The stink followed him.

We don't have that problem. Our problem is underachieving and injuries. Not outright horrid play.

Despite our piss poor yardage puked up last year we were top 15 in pts allowed.

That said I get your main point and I agree - Mahomes will have to grow up quick and score pts...

Vermeil knew to defer to his coordinator though. Reid can't do that. I think it detracts from his overall ability to coach a complete game. This is one of the main reasons I don't think Reid will ever win a Super Bowl.
