View Full Version : Chiefs How REALISTIC is it to get a good CB or safety via roster cuts?

Now I know through NFL history there are stories of late-round talents who become all-time greats (eg Brady) , and there are stories about undrafted talent becoming stars ( eg Aj Bouye). But what about these guys who get cut from rosters before the season starts? Have there been any players who have experienced that and then gone on to do well? Is there any hope for us In these next few days yall?

We ain't gonna get nobody. We have been Dorseyed at CB. No depth and his defense drafted players suck but like 2 and one of them is gone.

We didn't get 'Dorseyed' at cornerback. He didn't trade Peters, he didn't let Mitchell walk. Right now we could have Fuller,Peters starting with Mitchell at nickel. That's a quality set. Go out and sign S Eric Reid and we are good to go.

Fuller > Nelson
Reid > Murray
Berry > Watts
Peters > Mitchell

A solid, maybe even good, secondary right there. Don't blame Dorsey for the decisions of Reid,Veach,Clark and the Fanbase.

A few times I have asked that you keep it in the other thread so we can do exactly what you just mentioned, DISCUSS. I have zero issues with your football points or the discussion you want to have. It's what we should be talking about. But by your need to have your point seen by all the board it's breaking up the good discussion that was already happening.

As I think about the question, it shouldn't be whether we can get a good CB or safety after cuts, but rather, can we sign someone better than what we have?

Yeah he really has no choice. Just a matter of if it’s a small move and nobody will be surprised because it makes sense or it’s a big move for a starter nobody expected. Not too much will surprise me in this DB situation

I dont blame him for rolling the dice on Amerson, great size and he was solid in 2016 before slumping last season... but now that he appears to still be in a funk, yeah better shore things up

I think out secondary would be fine is Sutton and the front seven weren't such pussies.

All we need is pressure without blitzing. Problem is, we have no game plan for that so far. We have the bend, keep bending strategy.

I don’t either. People forget they’re taking 18m(as of right now for this season ) worth of dead money/cap for past mistakes in bad contracts. If that leads to having to play Tremon Smith, Springs, or even a Keith Reasor significant snaps at S just take the lumps and do it. Could pay off down the line. Too bad Amerson didn’t have experience at S at least then they could slide him over there
