Joe Horn - he was good.

Willie Roaf does not agree.

Horn has a son playing for Missouri Western.
Other than that, I got nothing.

Yeah. That sucked. It was clear to see that he had talent. I was perplexed when they let him go.

While I hated the decision of the Chiefs getting rid of Joe Horn; them getting Willie Roaf made up for it.

Best left tackle Ive seen in Chiefs history. I don’t think there will be any other greater than him.

The Chiefs could have had a Rich Gannon to Joe Horn combination, but instead decided to go with Elvis Grbac/Sylvester Morris.

I have always despised him for banging Roaf's wife, what a piece of shit move. Any NFL player can go to any club in America and have hordes of beautiful women escorted to their table, he just couldn't live without banging that one woman? Absolute scumbag.

If we didn’t let Horn go we wouldn’t have had Roaf.

The Grbac over Gannon probably cost us a superbowl.

Gannon was not a good quarterback. You guys see the Superbowl and automatically think that he would have taken the Chiefs to the Superbowl. He would have been exposed as the fraud he was if he had stayed in Kansas City. Matt Cassel could have taken that team to the Superbowl throwing to Rice and Brown!

Plus, he had the hot hand. We were rolling with him, there’s no telling how far we would have gone. But, of course, we’re the Chiefs, so it probably would have been an early playoff exit any how.

Who knows of that Horn Roaf shit happens if he never went to New Orleans...either way Joe Horn barely ever got on the field here because that's how Marty was, just let that talent waste away and then you see him being a league leader the minute he leaves.

Was pretty annoying to realize he was sitting behind dudes like Willie Davis and Lake Dawson.

I keep reading this, but we let Horn go as a Free Agent after the 1999 season.

We traded for Willie Roaf in the spring before the 2002 season for a draft pick.

Does not compute that we 'let Horn go for Roaf', because we didn't...

In case you're unfamiliar with the story, when we let Horn go, he ended up in New Orleans where he screwed Willie Roaf's woman leading to Roaf's unhappiness and eventual trade to KC. So KC didn't "let Horn go for Roaf", but KC did get Roaf because they let Horn go and that seems like a plus trade for KC to me even if it was happenstance rather than plan.

Didn’t really hurt as too much as GrBac threw for a ton of yards in the 2000 season and had his best year.

He would have been nice to have in Vermeils offense for sure though.

Well, seems like Big Willie didn't want to be JH's teammate none too much, so...

Quick search on the Internet reveals 4 things :

1. Joe Horn and Joe Johnson were banging Big Willie's Wife
2. Big Willie was probably at a strip club when this happened.
3. It's possible that one of the Joes inpregnated Mrs. Roaf
4. Big Willie left NOLA over money.

I thought it Was Vanover.

Vanover was in a car theft ring as well. I met him a few times and always seemed shady as hell. He had a thug vibe for sure.

Rice and Brown didn't earn Gannon player of the year, you know. And, if you have ever heard Tim Grunhard talk on the radio, he makes it very clear that the '97 team was fully behind Gannon and not so much Grbac. They didn't HATE Grbac, but they rallied around Gannon more so than for Grbac. Especially after his "throw it and catch it too" comment.

With that defense that year, we absolutely would have won the Super Bowl with Gannon.

Gannon had a noodle arm but I'm not with you on the rest of being athletically limited. Gannon was mobile and could make plays with his legs.

He wasn't a good fit for KC's play action deep ball concept. But when Gruden built a quick strike, dink and dunk offense around him, it worked.

And yes, he was a feisty leader that the players responded to.

If I remember, KC would have taken a big cap hit to cut Grbac and roll with Gannon, but in retrospect, they should have.

Gannon wanted to resign with KC, it wouldn't have taken much to keep both in '99...

Have to disagree. The reason why Gannon had a bad day in the Super Bowl was because his ex-coach Jon Gruden knows Gannon's strengths and weakness (as well as the whole Raider team). If it was any other team other than Tampa Bay, the results may likely have been different.

That being said, Gannon would had gave the Chiefs a better chance to get to the Super Bowl than Elvis "Pants wetting" Grbac.

Gruden played Rich Gannon during practice to prep them - that SlantAndGo/aka/SLUGGO route that was a staple of the Raiders offense since he got there, he made sure that took that away hard.

He drilled Tampa Bay on the Raiders' audibles and hand signals that were TOTALLY UNCHANGED from when he was coach.

Callahan was so unimaginative, he basically went 'run what we ran last year'.

Gannon, Rice, and Brown actually had the drive and experience to get them close...no way they thought Gruden would have TB in the dance that soon.

That's what I am saying. If it was any other NFC team other than Tampa Bay, I would imagine the results would be different.
