You can't go low on them...
You can't touch their helmet...
You can't hit them leading with your helmet...
You can't put your weight on them...
You can't "launch" at them...
You can't touch them within a nanosecond after they release the ball...

It's ****ing unreal anymore

the one that gets me the most is the you can't put your weight on them. Already seen that called today and it's just bullshit. How are you supposed to tackle a guy and what constitutes putting your weight on them? I

It's just another judgement call the Refs will make whenever they feel they need to change the game somehow....

I doubt Pete will have any problems with this when it benefits/protects Mahomes

Have you never watched the Chiefs? Knowing our luck, Mahomes will get corkscrewed and helmet targeted and they'll call us for a phantom hold or some bullshit.

Why would he, or any of us, have a problem with Pat being treated like any other quarterback?

Saints got bit by the "weight on the QB" flag on back-back plays.....not sure what the **** a guy is supposed to do? You bullrush a QB straight on and tackled him...what are you supposed to do?

I actually agree with this. Are you just supposed to stop? Potentially letting the QB get away?

It's like how the fuck are you supposed to tackle a QB? This will cost some teams some big games before they even think about changing the rule. It's one of those that sounds good but is rather impractical.

Lucky for us Sutton’s scheme fits perfect to counter the rule. We avg 1 or 2 sacks a game, we prefer to keep our best pass rusher in coverage and we get that rare two or three blitzes a game. We got it covered.

I think it essentially comes down to you have to arm tackle the QB around the waist only...anything else is a flag

It seems like we've picked the perfect time to draft our franchise quarterback. The future of the game is all about quarterbacks throwing to receivers, and the only way to lose a game will be if your receivers drop the ball.

Maybe the other strategy is the Cam Erving strategy. Start offensive linemen who will let the defenders get close to the quarterback. That'll be a 15-yard gain on every play.

Yup, gotta grab them by the jersey and toss them down not so hard . Can’t fall on them.

yeah and the more i think about it..these defensive players should know by now. wrap them up and fall down so that they fall on you. Its bullshit but they should know by now you cant lead with your helmet and you cant fall on them. Figure it out

I like it now that we have a franchise QB, but seriously. That "can't put weight on the QB" foul is total horseshit.

Football moves fast. Unless you make sacking the QB a foul, guys are going to go after the freakin QB. They're going to move fast. QBs are still going to get hit.

You're not protecting QBs with these penalties.

This new "can't fall on the QB" rule is horsehit. Watching redzone and it is happening all over the league and it is killing excellent defensive stands. The Vikings game just had this and the guy was literally holding himself up so as to not hit him with all his weight and it was still called.

BULL SHIT.

petegz28
09-09-2018, 01:43 PM
Out of the 6 bodyweight flags I've seen today, only the Vikings one would be considered legit. The QB had already thrown the ball and the defender grabbed the legs and drove him into the ground. So one 1 of 6 calls are legit and that will be the one they go to to show why we need the rule

Actually I saw that one as legit. Maybe upon replay I'd change my mind...

Same here. It looked like he grabbed the QB's legs to lift and drive him down.
