Without Alex Smith, we do not draft Mahomes when we do. We would have drafted some POS 2-3-4 years earlier.

On top of that, Alex Smith and Reid did a fine job coaching and teaching Mahomes last year.

Those are the types of offensive performances I won't miss re:Smith. Today, we had a 1st rd home grown franchise QB who literally put this team on his shoulders, went on the road for the 2nd straight week, vs a team that's had our number over the yrs, and willed this team to a big W.

I find it strange that Dane hasn't come back yet. People should be more excited about the Chiefs now than anytime that I can remember. I know the D isn't the best in the league, but Mahomes is doing things we have never seen in the NFL. Breaking legit records in only his first year as a starter. He is special. Has anyone noticed a significant drop in the amount of batted balls between last year and this year? Also there has unsurprisingly been a significant amount of sacks. I know it's only week two, but any idiot can watch Mahomes play and see that he has a very bright future. If it wasn't for Mahomes and we still had Alex as QB, I honestly would not be watching a game.

The payback for all the Alex ball washing we endured while he was here is too sweet to let go of. All of the Alexscuses we got such as; (he needs a better O-line, the WR drop the ball too much, the team isn't good enough, he hasn't been in the offense long enough) were annoying as hell. Pat Mahomes has been in the league for 2 years and is in his first year starting and now it seems like those issues have completely disappeared. He has taken 2 sacks in 2 games, the WR are catching the ball and if they don't it doesn't mean that a drive is going to completely stall, he elevates the team and makes it better, and he doesn't need 4 years in the offense to not be trash. We can't forget the excuses that it was Andy's fault Alex wouldn't throw deep. He was just a pussy. I'm so glad we finally have a QB that doesn't need excuses from a group of weirdos who followed him here even though he was pretty much trash when he came here. So, no, I'm not going to stop talking bad about him any time soon.

No way Alex wins a game like this.

And Mahomes probably wouldn't have been able to do this in 2017. It was the right move to groom him.

Yep. It's the Alex special. Look great on the stat line while doing nothing to propel your team to a win.

It had to be the defenses fault.

Dane backed Mahomes after watching him last year. Said he thought he’d be pretty good and loved his arm.

For the record.

Very little credit to Pat of course. To their credit they all agreed Ben was over the line, which was obv

I looked at their forum earlier, it looked a lot like ours did when he first arrived. Some people think he's an improvement over Cousins and some don't. Most are optimistic. They haven't seen enough yet to know.

Alex is a nice guy, but he is what he is.

Why? We had to endure him for 5 ****ing years Yes he is gone and we are celebrating his departure and gloating how right we were to start Patrick Mahomes II

BREAKING NEWS: The Chiefs moved on from Alex Smith months ago. Don't you think it is time for Prison Bitch and the others still obsessed with him to get the **** over it and move on with the rest of us?

He was the one holding the team back. It's legitimate to compare how the team fared against the same opponent.

LOL not one yes vote! There's no WAY we win with Alex at QB yesterday. Patrick's downfield threat opened up the defense and cleared the field for Patrick to shred them.

Exactly. Look at Smith's numbers yesterday against the Colts. They are respectable - 33 / 46 - 292 Yards, No INT's BUT NO TD passes though - and they lost...Tells me he did nothing extra. You need a QB that is capable if doing "extra" every week if you're gonna win BIG in the NFL today. Alex is not that guy.

Although it's great now, it's really a pisser that we wasted all of last year with that clown as our QB when Mahomes was right there waiting to play. Props to Mahomes for keeping his cool and acting like a true professional last year while having to wait his turn.I don't think it was a waste at all. He only had two full years of college ball. He had no experience reading NFL defenses. He got to see how the NFL locker room works, practices, workouts, meetings, travel and media.

By all accounts including Mahomes himself, Alex was the key to his reading defenses pre-snap and during the play.

I'm positive beyond a shadow of doubt that a year watching and learning helped him make better decisions. Because of that reason, in the long run we benefit from Mahomes making better decisions than we would have him playing last year.

There was several times in the last two weeks he could have tried to fit a pass in he shouldn't, gamble when he shouldn't. Instead of living for the next play. With this offense there is going to always be a next play. He doesn't need to gamble with his arm and talented options to deliver the ball.

Alex could have been the backup and still assisted with the presnap reads. I think we would have been just fine.

Alex could have been the backup and still assisted with the presnap reads. I think we would have been just fine. And I would have been cool with that too. But, I trust Andy to develop a QB. He obviously thought the benefit of learning for a year, then playing was the best path for Mahomes long term development.

Andy has a proven successful record of developing QB's in the past. We should trust Andy on this particular part of his coaching philosophy. He's earned that trust many times at multiple stops in his career.

Nope. When you have a cancer it’s better to remove it and move forward then keep it around to pretend it’s going to help.

Alex isn’t helping Mahomes. Mahomes pushes Alex beyond his comfort zone last year and your seeing true Alex in Washington.

There’s nothing absolutely nothing Alex could do at this point to benefit Mahomes.
