Do middling defenses cause Mahomes problems? They are average in just about every statistical category. In many important stats, they're not even average - they're bad or terrible. They're giving up 70% completions to QBs - having faced Flacco and Carr. They're giving up 8.2 YPA, 7th-worst in the league, even worse than our shitty D and we've faced much better QBs while leading the entire season.

They're good in run D (although it's hard to tell because they've faced terrible backs). Big deal - the running game is close to irrelevant these days.

The second half of the 49ers game has me a bit concerned; the run defense was terrible and there was no pass rush. Opposing TEs and RBs are running wide open all over the field, the tackling is terrible. I think that opposing defenses are going to work on keeping Mahomes in the pocket where his footwork is questionable. On the run, he is dangerous however he seems to have a bit of trouble stepping up and throwing.

The Chiefs should win. The Broncos defense doesn't match up well with the Chiefs offense, and Denver's offense...well, there just isn't much there.

However...

Denver knows what they can and can't do. And I'm going to guess they think their best shot of winning is to shorten the game. If they can run the ball, eat clock, and do just enough on defense to keep us in the 20s, then they have a shot.

Plus it's a road division game in prime time. It's gonna be weird. On paper KC should blow them off the field. I'll be surprised if that happens. Mahomes isn't going to be perfect for 16 weeks and we probably aren't going to continue to just demolish everybody at the beginning of the game. I think it's going to come down to the wire, and it could go either way. My gut says Denver wins on a late field goal. 27-24.

That's what I think. What I hope is a 28-7 lead at halftime.

Personally, I don't think people are confident enough.

Denver's strengths so far are a solid run game and pass rush ability. Chiefs are much improved at defending the run and have a QB that is as good as any at quick reads/quick throws.

They suck at defending tight ends, KC has arguably the best tight end in the game. Their corners are struggling, our WRs are thriving.

Add in Andy's ownage of the division and their coaching staff.

Not to mention their QB is easily the weakest that our D has faced so far.

I'm just not confident about this game at all.

I don't fault this Chieffanism one bit. I had it game one and I still had it in game two. Cuzchiefs. Big bad Steelers. But I'm done with that. It's not like we'll go undefeated, but I'm confident we win this game, and I DGAF who's reffing, what the injury situation is, what the temperature is. All I care about is that we have the best QB on the field, which we will most weeks this year, and that usually correlates to winning.

Just being honest, if I was a Broncos fan and Keesum was my QB, with Mahomes coming in, I would legit predict a 3-score loss.

I just got done watching 5 straight episodes of All or Nothing with the 2016 Rams. Keesum was the starter until he got benched. Guess what, he's a career backup. Last year was a total anomaly as he's already proving yet again. Not that we'll win on the back of shutting him down. But Pat isn't losing to him after EASILY outduelling Rivers and Big Ben.
