Maybe I'm blind, but I hadn't seen this article posted yet.

This is a pretty good and very long Mahomes article currently on the front page of the ringer. It basically goes through the Chiefs long and miserable playoff history for the past few decades and why Mahomes means a lot to KC.

It's on the Mahomes megathread, but so good that it deserved its own thread.

Plus I am partial to anything from Rany.

I have not finished the article yet but loved this line:

"If the Chiefs were a royal house, their coat of arms would be a GIF of a screen pass on third-and-long."

Man, 1 playoff win in the last 12 attempts. And that one win came against journeyman game manager Brian Hoyer. Smh...the bar is pretty damn low for Mahomes to beat the previous track record for the Chiefs over the last 30 years, lol

It’s not that the Chiefs have been bad over the past generation—quite the contrary. From 1990 to 2017, the Chiefs are one of just nine NFL franchises to win 244 games. (The other eight—the Patriots, Steelers, Packers, Eagles, Broncos, Cowboys, Colts, and 49ers—have all won at least two conference championships and one Super Bowl during that span.)

OMG!! ROFL

In five games Mahomes has made the entire fanbase forget about every other Chiefs QB, and especially the last one.

There will be nobody whining when he throws a pick or loses a game now. No "I wish we had Alex" posts.

He's burned in now. The fan base is going to sack ride him harder than they ever rode any of the game managers. Should he falter, the excuses will flow like wine, because Leon can't do everything.

Gonna be a fun ride.

just curious, since the only chiefs news i get is from here, the nfl sites, and youtube.

what's the vibe like kc media wise? i know it used to be the news would stop talking about a previous game the day after. what's it like now?

:D

The Patrick Mahomes thread is probably the greatest contribution to the world this site has ever or will ever make. Every post is a treasure. Show some respect.

Nailed it!

I was at every home playoff loss. I will be there this year when we break the losing streak.

That article is great.

a Manifesto of how the Chiefs have been doing shit wrong for the better part of 40 years.

An excellent piece of work by any reasonable standard of measure. It's always good when you can write what you know ...

I particularly like the meta references. Nothing cheesy, but actually helps the reader understand the context.

I give this article a 4 cheeseburger rating.

How soon can we realistically wait before locking Mahomes up with a lifetime contract???
