I'll be making it out to KC for the November 11th game v. the Cardinals. Arriving Friday and flying out Monday.

What are some must dos before and after the game on Sunday?

I'm also a big college football fan. Where are some solid places to pop in and watch the action on Saturday?

Also, where are some must go local joints for bbq. Don't want the touristy shit, but the stuff that brings the locals in.

If you go to one BBQ place it needs to be Joe's KC. It's the #1 touristy place but also the best one, sometimes they are one and the same.

You should say where you are staying, KC is really spread out. People will have better suggestions that way.

Must dos before the game will be extremely obvious when you get to the parking lot and smell the air. Drink and eat meat. Both heavily.

Well, Nov 11th, no telling what the weather will be like. Check the forecast. Could be anything from 18 to 80 degrees that time of year.

Depending on what time you get in on Friday (afternoon?) if you want to see KC stuff, do it on Saturday, because most of the museums are closed on Mondays.

Also depends on where you are staying. The normal touristy places are the Power & Light Downtown (P&L District), Crown Center area, Westport and the Plaza. If you're downtown, the streetcar runs from the North End called City Market, then headed south you go past the P&L, then the Crossroads Arts District, then Crown Center. If you want to go further south you can take a cab to Westport or the Plaza. The Plaza is around 47th and Main, and that's about as far south as you want to go.

Cool stuff to see on a Saturday:
City Market: Steamboat Arabia Museum
P&L: College Basketball Experience at Sprint Center, tons of sports bars.
Crossroads: Grinders for food, Josey Records if you like music. Little further east is the 18th and Vine district: Original Arthur Bryant's BBQ, Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and American Jazz Museum.
Crown Center: WWI Museum, Union Station, Freight District has Manny's Mexican, Lydia's Italian and Smoke Stack BBQ.
Westport: Tons of bars, Kelly's is the oldest bar in KC still operating.
Plaza: Shopping at ritzy shops, tons of restaurants, Nelson Atkins Art Gallery and Kemper Modern Art Gallery is just a few blocks to the East.

If it's a noon kickoff, you should just plan on getting up early on Sunday and getting your ass out to Arrowhead. Plenty of threads on CP about how to do that. After the game, you'll probably just want to get dinner and go pass out at your hotel.

On BBQ it depends on what part of town you're in. Ask the doorman at your hotel. Can't go wrong with Joe's KC, Bryant's Gates, Smokestack, LCs or a bunch of other places. Don't go to McDonald's for a McRib.

I wouldn't drive down south for Joe's KC when you can easily do this much closer...

Q39 for BBQ.
Boulevard Tasting Room to drink some good local beers.

Why Not?

Whatever anyone tells you, you can’t go wrong with any Kansas City original BBQ place. Gates, Bryant’s, Jack Stack, Q39, Joe’s, etc. They all kick ass

Agree with all that but Jack Stack. Jack Stack is disgusting.

If you're staying at the P&L, there's a BBQ place downtown called Plowboys that's not bad. Here's a list of joints recommended by the KC Visitor's bureau:

If you want a steak for dinner, go to the Majestic Steak House. http://majestickc.com/
Or you can try The Rieger in the Crossroads for dinner. Try their house whiskey:

Most of the food in the P&L is pretty normal touristy stuff. For breakfast you can go to the City Market and have breakfast at Cascone's. Get there right when they open at 8:30 if you're going to get to Arrowhead by 10am. They're closed on Mondays. http://www.casconesgrill.com/

If you get to Arrowhead at 10am for your first game, you are missing out. Shoot for a 7am arrival.
